People slandering Ray liota in GF have no idea what they are talking about.

Don’t let the fact that he has made some shytty movies since then deter from the fact that he was the perfect Henry.

It’s his best role.

Scorcese storytelling and direction alone put GF ahead. He fathered a whole Narrative style that many have tried to duplicate but only he can do great (Casino being another example)

Deep and Pacino were great but after them the movie style and storytelling are dry and limited.

David O Russell has patterned his whole shyt off Goodfellas. The way Scorsese used needle drops and camera angles and flourishes to tell a story and invest you in that world along with the editing choices. Yeah this shyt ain’t close

It can be classic but also not be as good of a movie breh. And nah it's not. Goodfellas is all around great performances and isn't Scorsese copying himself which is exactly what he did in Casino
He may have copied himself but stylisticly it is Scorsese at his PEAK

The way he captured the popping Colorfullness of all the casinos and the way people dressed.

And although I think Ray liota was great in GF, I think we can all agree that Dinero is the stronger actor, so him being the main focus in Casino makes it a stronger film.

Also I think Joe Pesci was better in Casino.
And Sharon Stone KILLED her role.

I love GF but to me Casino is Scorsese taking that style and progressing with it.

See I disagree. Goodfellas is him doing all of that with a more pristine eye and the sum of its parts are greater than the whole. Ray isn’t as strong as an actor as Dinero but he doesn’t need to be for Henry hill. He needs to be exactly what he was and he did great with that role. As did Pesci and Dinero and Bracco and everyone. Up and down the line there’s not a weak performance in Goodfellas and there’s not a boring moment.

For me there are parts of casino where I say “yeah yeah I’ve seen it before okay cool” but Goodfellas was unlike anything that came before it. It innovated. Casino copied. And it’s just not as tight as a flick. There are lulls in casino because it’s so sprawling but every scene in Goodfellas is necessary and builds on the scene before it while informing every single aspect or facet of the movie and its characters. And it may be the cocaine lol but there’s an energy to Goodfellas that works in its favor. Some of casino feels very procedural and not in a good way. Maybe that’s because Goodfellas was adapted from a book and casino wasn’t but as a story and as a whole piece, it just doesn’t feel as tightly constructed as it should

I don't have a problem with Casino being Goodfellas "sequel" because it ended up being a classic. I know a couple people whom prefer Casino over Goodfellas because they saw Casino first. Both movies are excellent but yeah Goodfellas is just great in every single scene.

I love Donnie Brasco and its def a classic, but it's not even in the same world as GoodFellas.

Bruh why do yall keep tryna throw GoodFellas in the mix with inferior films? That shyt is one of the few perfect films ever made and it is beyond reproach, stop the contrarian shyt
