On paper this is a completely ridiculous statement.
But.. I may not have given Donnie Brasco the credit it deserves. My main issue with the movie is how Donnie got into the mob.
This is apparently how it happened, but it seems far-fetched.
You simply don’t just get and gain trust from mobsters.
Also this Pacino part where he is basically a mini-mob boss with not much clout who keeps on borrowing money
This undermines his power and how dangerous he is and.. yeah it’s a problem for the movie.
But: I’m going to give this one another shot. I like the movie quite a bit but Goodfellas for so many reasons (DeNiro and Pesci for starters, the many insane scenes, the amazing directing job and just the feel) really stands out.
I must say that for me too the weak link is Ray Liotta. He did the best he could but came across least ‘real’.

nah. Casino is a lesser version of Goodfellas.
I love Carlito's way. But it's not better than Donnie Brasco.
