This is part of it. I blame the violence on two very important actions that took place. First, Chicago and CHA decided to close public housing. I'm not sure how long the entire process took but I want to say in a matter of 5 years, huge housing projects were closed, 1000's of people moved. This displaced the people who had been living in those projects and injected them in communities that were just as violent as housing projects were. You got different gangs moving into these different neighborhoods and it was destined to fail. These ares now are prime real estate locations. Cabrini Green area is pretty much white, where I grew up 50/50 black and white. All those people who live in those projects were shoved on the south and west sides. This was done by design.
Secondly, they locked away all the gangs leaders. When I was growing up, you could not just shoot someone unless there was some type of gang war going on. You had to talk to, who was your leader to green light any actions. Now, since there is no leadership these kids look to each other for "advice", there is no order, no one in charge, they off that syrup and they have no regard for life. You cant completely get rid of gangs in Chicago because of the history and how deep it is embedded in the reputation of the city so you have to work within that structure if you are the police. The police knew who the leaders were, made efforts to stop whatever gang war was going on. We knew their names. Now, the CPD is demoralizing. If you read the DOJ report it stated how cops acknowledge calling black people ******s and monkeys and basically treating them like shyt. There is one incident where a officer had two women suspected of having weed. The office inserted fingers in these women vaginas and anus to see if they are concealing it. Like wtf. Its so many layers but these are the main two. Change wont work with the relationships we have within our own communities or with the police.

So did he not read that report where the police were instagating some of the shyt there by parading around gang members as if the snitched? And how about he bring jobs there? Instead of going to war.
