The media's job isn't to ameliorate the moral condition of the populace or censor the dirty elements of life, it's to provide an accurate and thorough account of reality so the people can come up with their own conclusions. I hate Lemmon and CNN because they're basically infotainment and are seeking to exploit these issues for ratings by being purposefully shocking, but they're correct on this specific issue. The media can't treat the audience like they're children, or else the audience will become like children. They have to trust that we have the ability to make sense of reality for ourselves, including the uncomfortable and dirty elements.
