You're Dominican?
Itmofos be delusional saying "okay fine we've got African roots but not the same type as haitians and african americans"
let these cats tell it though , like i said in my earlier post we've had Jamaican and Haitian postesr say they same thing, they got family members who have said they don't want to be called black and especially don't want to be called African american but you don't see a million threads about them denying there "blackness"
and don't get my started on the treatment of Haitians once they first migrate to this country , a lot of them here are quite but please tell me the how you were embraced by the AA community when you was in school
and i mean if we want to talk about a portion of community having racial identity issues and "wanting to be white"
:none:
BTW I'll allow ignorance all day the thread, but racial slurs
Hopefully Haiti isnt used as a punching bag for the west.... like they have been for hundreds of years.Man, hopefully both countries can settle the dispute. We don't want another parsley massacre to reoccur.

Many countries responded to the appeals and launched fund-raising efforts, as well as sending search and rescue teams. The neighbouring Dominican Republic was the first country to give aid to Haiti,[114] sending water, food and heavy-lifting machinery.[118] The hospitals in the Dominican Republic were made available; a combined effort of the Airports Department (DA), together with the Dominican Naval Auxiliaries, the UN and other parties formed the Dominican-Haitian Aerial Support Bridge, making the main Dominican airports available for support operations to Haiti. The Dominican website FlyDominicanRepublic.com[119] made available to the internet, daily updates on airport information and news from the operations center on the Dominican side.[118] The Dominican emergency team assisted more than 2,000 injured people, while the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) helped with the restoration of some telephone services.[118] The Dominican Red Cross coordinated early medical relief in conjunction with the International Red Cross.[118] The government sent eight mobile medical units along with 36 doctors including orthopaedic specialists, traumatologists, anaesthetists, and surgeons. In addition, 39 trucks carrying canned food were dispatched, along with 10 mobile kitchens and 110 cooks capable of producing 100,000 meals per day.[120]
Haitians dont use racially charged language or actions when talking about black DominicansDominicans can't deny they have African roots because it's a fact that African slaves mixed with Whites and Natives.
That's just biological fact.
I think what bothers some people is that in America people tend to look at black people as a monolith.
A black Dominican isn't the same as a black person from Virginia. And neither is going to identify with the other even if they look the same.
There are cultural differences and I think that's what the average a$$hole on The Coli doesn't understand. Or he refused to admit.
There are cultural differences that make people in DR hate Haitians...and vice versa.
There's also a history of war and crimes against each other.
And yes, there's a racism problem in DR. There's racism with Dominicans here in the States.
But it's complicated. There are blacks in DR who look down upon blacks in Haiti. But don't act like there aren't blacks in Haiti who don't look down upon blacks in DR.
So this self-hate shyt that a lot of you like to throw around with your is just intellectually lazy bullshyt trolling.
A lot of people on The Coli want Dominicans to admit they are black when it's convenient, but the second there's a political or social issue, they're quick to hop up with these divisive passive-aggressive comments like "B-b-but Latinos are our friends..."
Make up your minds, man.
Sometimes I wish yall would take a break.
Why don't yall make threads about how the reason Cuba and Puerto Rico are more White than the DR and Haiti is because rich White land and slave owners fled to those islands when the Haitians and Dominicans revolted?
And how Cuba and Puerto Rico have black populations that are marginalized.
Talk about that shyt for a change.
I'm tired of this.
that's first time heard something like that especially with all protest over there. Especially its black nation who still despise cac(& they friends)The term "black" is not reserved for African Americans in the United States. And its true that some Haitians and other islanders want to go by their nationality before "race". Just my experience, but not ALL.
