It's a GOD-DAMNED SHAME that i can only rep you once. The denial i was referring to in my post earlier (post: http://www.thecoli.com/posts/12269982/ ). The denial is what i have problems with. This is such a lie.
Another lie
Because our anti-blackness is embedded into our consciousness. It's displayed in every part of our lives as Dominicans.
Which is sad because some of these 'outsiders' are making valid points. Instead of defending shyt, why don't you accept and acknowledge the fact that we are conditioned to hate our African ancestry? Anti-blackness exists in our government, in our schools, in our families. It is almost impossible to get away from. I don't get why that's so hard for you to believe.
As Dominicans living or born in the US, we're lucky we're armed with the knowledge to be able to unlearn this shyt and go back and talk to our families and friends and try to school them. It's a process. shyt is not gonna change or magically disappear because you want it to. You need to speak about it.

AGain, being Haitian myself i know and am friends with many Dominicans. One of them being my ride-or-die chick in Miami. Ive always known them to dislike Haitians but the flat out racism thing didn't occur to me until later in life. Something i saw with this chick i knew and her crew kinda made me look deeper into it. But mofos be delusional saying "okay fine we've got African roots but not the same type as haitians and african americans" . This isn't me making ch!t up. See the very last sentence in the post here: http://www.thecoli.com/posts/6651925/
Again, it may be small faction that significant enough to get attention but still too many other Dominicans are in total denial about the sh!t.
You know dmn well they mean they are not "african-american" because in the U.S. the term "black" seems to have been reserved for AAs.What is this denial that you keep bringing up?? , Even in that post from @Raul he admits there is racism in DR, so have other Dominican posters in the thread and in my post I was pointing out something that is obvious
tell a Haitian from here he is black or African American they will snap on you, same thing for Jamaicans, trinis and any other person of African roots outside the US they will say I'm not black am Haitian etc , we've had this discussion in the past here a ton and posters from those places have admitted to such
The Dominican / Haitian issue is much deeper than just a race issue
I've never ever denied this. EVER! Ask your boy @beanz . I fully acknowledge that part of the argumentThe Dominican / Haitian issue is much deeper than just a race issue
They should die for lynching others for no reason. Simply "avoiding them" isn't a valid answer.Just avoid them. That is all I am saying.
Well the first time this occurred to me was when i was in college and this black american girl from Baltimore told that sh!t. This was a conversation that came from her boyfriend revoking my "black card" because i didn't know what a damn funnel-cake was. Then she turned to me and said... AND I QUOTE: "You aren't black tho. Aren't you from another country? You think just having black skin makes you black" while laughingThe term "black" is not reserved for African Americans in the United States. And its true that some Haitians and other islanders want to go by their nationality before "race". Just my experience, but not ALL.
That dumb girls opinion does not equals everyone's opinion on black here in America. By her dumb logic, West Africans who AA's descend from are not "black" since they're from another country.Well the first time this occurred to me was when i was in college and this black american girl from Baltimore told that sh!t. It was weird. For the first time in my life i was being told that i was not what i always knew and been told i was
THAT IS EXACTLY what i thought too but truth is many people think like that tho. Im sure she didn't come up with that on her own. That dumb girls opinion does not equals everyone's opinion on black here in America. Means we are the store-brand African and they are the name-brand African. Who wants Publix meat when you cn have Boar's Head brand quality for just $1 more? Not the same type as African Americans? What do these spics mean by that?
