yeah thatd work if it was only big corporations that did this but its literally almost 100% of businesses no matter how small , local or big they are.
The cost of living (apartment rent, housing market, FOOD, fun activites [movies, zoos, etc.], cell phone bills, cable bills, etc.) has gone up too quick and inflation is no where NEAR keeping up at historical levels..
the apartment rent has doubled and in some places tripled in most places in California.. but income hasnt doubled or tripled, in fact its actually stayed near the same the past 10 years..
the higher minimum wage has only hurt smaller businesses while the people who went from $10 a hour to $15 a hour still cant afford to live in San Francisco as the average rent in San Francisco $3677 for an apartment.
$15 a hour is only $2400 a month, at full time, before taxes.
So what did it accomplish besides raising prices for everyone?
but now food that was $6 is now almost $9-10 to off set the min wage difference..
see you arent a business owner.. so from your eyes you are only seeing it from a single person issue (putting yourself in someone elses shoes)
but as a business owner I have 3 bartenders, 3 barbacks and 10 VIP girls to pay for.
these are min wage + tips type of jobs.
in 2015 my cost on this would be $704 ($11/hr x 16 people x 4 hours)
in 2018 my cost on this is now $960
im paying $260 more per night, $520-800 extra per week(if i do a 3rd party), $2080-$3200 more per month just on staffing.. thats an extra $40k a year if I dont do any extra parties
where do you think we have to make up the other $40k a year not including the higher cost of goods (cups, alcohol price raising due to this.. Hennessy was $29.99 3 years ago its now $45.99 as example.. moet nectars $49.99 now $65, etc.) ??
We have to raise prices.. its not as simple as just giving 1 person an extra $4 a hour...
