smith's non-viewaskewniverse stuff is still pretty good

your stars are but dust on my shoes
Just watched chasing amy, not a fan at all. Perhaps I'm missing something, like the subject matter being more groundbreaking in the 90s.:yeshrug:

Not a great fan of Clerks either, although it's not bad. Smith's work just hasn't aged well in my opinion.

Mallrats, Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob are classics to me.

I don't think he got enough credit for Dogma, looking back the movie was ahead of it's time,

Amy is probably my fav of his movies. But i agree the whole lesbian thing was much more groundbreaking back in the 90’s...and he wrote that part for Ben as he had not been in much, and Smith felt he was deserving of being a leading man. Think they sold the script to Good Will Hunting just before or during filming Amy.

Reboot is on prime now, I recommend it to anyone who was once a fan of his...esp Ben Afflecks scene :mjlol:

I was a big fan of his as a kid. Clerks is a classic to me. I also liked how all his movie are technically in universe.
But he really falls shorts a little on every other film.

Clerks was a big achievement for coming out of nowhere, it's funny if you're in college at the time and it's catching you by surprise. Just didn't age out of its era at all.

After that got most sophisticated but lost its moment. I don't think I've seen a Kevin Smith movie since Chasing Amy.
