I am refering to that, not just young chris flow but his biting so frequently from using eminems bars in 'success' to other biting sh1t.

It's bigger than biting, I am saying Jay-z seems to have so many sons in the rap game no wonder its in dire situations right now.

He transformed the MC to im a hustla not a rapper, bullsh1t which gave birth to the lesser skilled MC's and the south.

outside of his records, his a good role model and that i give him credit but when you say.

'Im living proof, crime does pay' i cant fck with him too much.

master p was the one that brought in the rap hustla mentality. not jay-z.

that young chris stuff is an example of biting. yes. he took chris whole style and left him for dead. but the eminem thing? i dont know what youre talking about but it sounds like hes just saluting eminem by using his bars, which is something that people were doing before there even was a jay-z. 2 completely different screnarios.

Which further emphasizes my point, with how man likes following a person they consider "cool" or whatever. These small dudes were not saying shyt before Nas said shyt, and now that they've invested so much hate into Jay-z and all these things like "biting" etc it's so deep rooted that they will never get over it. Even if it's been more than a decade since they were beefing and toast to each others success today. I just wonder why it doesn't go both ways, why doesn't Jay stans hate on Nas like that? I mean Jay got 10 times more fans so Nas should get 10 times more hate given that Jay stans and Nas stans are equally corny/miserable. So the only thing that can explain this phenomenon is that Nas stans are generally infinite amount of times cornier than your average rap fan going by The internets that is.

nah. people were complaining about jay-z before cam & nas called him out. they just ran with it and it escalated things further.

i think jay catches flack because he does this a bit too much. that and imo, it also goes back to the fact that jay catches flack for blowing up commercially after pac & big died, but going too far into that would derail the thread so i'll fall back on that one.

Cormega recently said in a interview that the industry does what Jay-Z does. I think because he has had so many hits, power, album sales and lots of money rappers follow him. I think some people really consider him some sort of god as well. I do think rappers may be rewarded for following him and punished if they cross him. Does that make them stupid, idk. They probably just want to make money and no pun intended they use him as the blueprint for getting it.

IMO Jay-Z's presence in Hip Hop has stunted its growth (for the very reasons mentioned in this thread) and he needs to be ousted. I always have been and always will be a proponent to get rid of Jay-Z. If he really was the best rapper, outspoken representative for the culture and the people who support it, then I would go along with the program to a certain extent. But when you do things like doa when you had a autotune track on deck, rip off artist, push your man aside in his own hometown so you could look better in a picture, hang out with the president, hang out with that devil bloomberg etc. I can't go for that. He's a sellout who doesn't have much to offer to the people in 2012. Maybe to the corporations he's a hot commodity but not to the people and certainly not to Hip Hop.

You ungrateful peasant, Hov has given nikkas the blue print on how to act in and outtah the booth....Hov the King

-Hov has shown that the average hip hop fan has different sets of standards they apply to different rappers
-Hov has shown that skills is what's important, not age of the rapper
-Hov showed rappers that they are artist and should approach the art form with the mind state of experimenting, rather than being a cookie cutter of what's hot now
-Hov has shown that you cold vary the topics of your raps and still be relevant
-Hov has shown that HipHop culture could also be an attractive entity for marketing execs of non-stereotypical items like alcohol and sneakers

no he didnt.

rappers were always doing that.

ive always said that jay-z, jadakiss & fabolous' influence would turn out to be a negative for east coast hip-hop.

as for jay, i do feel that sometimes he gets fake props from these industry rappers. i definitely see what youre saying there.

You mean the flashy BIG-like rapper? It has. I remember back in 2004 when Jay retireed andevery and their moms wanted to be like Jay. Rapping like him, dressing like him, same slang and flow. Even the young swag rappers always name drop Jigga like its their surrogate father. Kids think of Nas as that old boring rapper that lacks "swag."

nah. im referring to the forced/disingenious/soul-less approach to making music that they have. it worked for jay, and to a lesser-extent - jada & fab, but it hurt all 3 of their legacies in the end. everybody else is just :beli: for the most part.

meh. jay's style of rap, flow, slang, dress, his swag, etc mostly consisted of stuff that he either jacked off somebody else or it was simply stuff that was already poppin before he somehow attached his name to it. hes not anywhere near the trendsetter that hes made out to be. i prolly cant even put him in the upper-echelon of rappers from his era in terms of influence.
