You're telling me that I'm wrong you little dumb smart fukkhead?
Its a simple analogy, a lot of tech companies in 2012 are influenced by Apple not Research In Motion I can give you 1000 other examples.

Why wouldn't this apply to rappers? You Nas stans have some mental problems when it comes to Jay.

Jay had rappers repeating other rappers lyrics like its a skill-set.

no he didnt.

rappers were always doing that.

Cormega recently said in a interview that the industry does what Jay-Z does. I think because he has had so many hits, power, album sales and lots of money rappers follow him. I think some people really consider him some sort of god as well. I do think rappers may be rewarded for following him and punished if they cross him. Does that make them stupid, idk. They probably just want to make money and no pun intended they use him as the blueprint for getting it.

IMO Jay-Z's presence in Hip Hop has stunted its growth (for the very reasons mentioned in this thread) and he needs to be ousted. I always have been and always will be a proponent to get rid of Jay-Z. If he really was the best rapper, outspoken representative for the culture and the people who support it, then I would go along with the program to a certain extent. But when you do things like doa when you had a autotune track on deck, rip off artist, push your man aside in his own hometown so you could look better in a picture, hang out with the president, hang out with that devil bloomberg etc. I can't go for that. He's a sellout who doesn't have much to offer to the people in 2012. Maybe to the corporations he's a hot commodity but not to the people and certainly not to Hip Hop.

ive always said that jay-z, jadakiss & fabolous' influence would turn out to be a negative for east coast hip-hop.

as for jay, i do feel that sometimes he gets fake props from these industry rappers. i definitely see what youre saying there.

This is not a Jay hate thread, i think his one of the hardest working people in the music business and he deserves his success and is a great example of discipline, hard work and motivation. This is a thread about Jay imitators, they wait for Jay to do/say something and then they all start saying it.

exp : copping art pieces (i have heard fat joe and rick ross then start rapping about it)

There's a tonne of examples how these rappers follow Jay's steps. I also like the other poster stated he has a bad influence ie. biting, etc.

+
Nas is complacent and a bit on the lazy side, so of course Jay is a better example for the youth (outside Jay rhymes/music) him as a type of role model in whatever field you are stepping foot in.

no he didnt.

rappers were always doing that.

No they where not, Biting was frowned upon and then Jay started making it seem like a skill.

Then rappers like weezy, fat joe, etc ...... start doing it.

Biting was always a no no, but look at 2012 rappers and you wont have thought it.

Biting and flipping famous lines (90% of them being from your dead friend) is not the same thing.
Do you think any rapper who is a successful writer needs another rappers lines? Or a dude who even writes hits for other people like his friends etc needs other peoples lines? It's a sign of showing respect, therefore only the illest MC's most famous lines are the ones quoted. Biting would be taking lines from studio sessions and shyt dudes never heard of. Not saying "Me and the Rza connect".

The reason to why I call these fukkbirds haters is cause they have as many posts about Jay as Jays fans and they have more negative posts about Jay than they have post in total about their favorite rapper.

Which is either a psychological issue or nah it must be a psychological issue.

Nas stans are the most embarrassing fans in music, in other genres the legends are never disrespected like the legends Nas stans disrespect and dikkride as if they were smart dumber versions of 14 year old Justin Bieber vs Miley Cyrus stans or something

biting and paying homage are 2 completely different things.

jay has done his fair share of biting but he never gets called out for the people that he actually did bite. hes bitten a number of lesser-known philly & new york acts. but he rarely ever gets called out for it. he even bit his own state property artists. but yall arent referring to any of that.

yall are calling him out for paying homage. jay would take commonly-known lines and rehash them as a salute. rappers would do this all the time, including fat joe who you are listing. he didnt get that chit from no jay-z. hes been doing that for years. the problem that people had with jay was that he did it a lil bit too much, especially with biggie. and then when people like nas & camron called him out for it, things really got out of hand.

the lines are kinda blurred in this thread.

I never understood the appeal of Jay Z.

Good rapper who took advantage of the weakest era in hip hop history. All his "greatness" seems manufactured to me.It's like there's some kind of agenda to make him this larger than life figure, but other than his money, what's so iconic about this dude? I never got it:mindblown:

His trends are petty as shyt....." button ups...fitted caps...'don't drink Cristal' "

He's the king of commercial/materialism.His music is based on the concept of rising from the slums by any means, but when I listen to his music, I feel like it's 10% substance and 90% vain bullshyt.....I just don't see this transcended figure:yeshrug:

He was a great wordsmith in the early part of his career.I'll give him that.Great lyrcist......but I feel like his shyt has been getting weaker since '00-'01

I am refering to that, not just young chris flow but his biting so frequently from using eminems bars in 'success' to other biting sh1t.

It's bigger than biting, I am saying Jay-z seems to have so many sons in the rap game no wonder its in dire situations right now.

He transformed the MC to im a hustla not a rapper, bullsh1t which gave birth to the lesser skilled MC's and the south.

outside of his records, his a good role model and that i give him credit but when you say.

'Im living proof, crime does pay' i cant fck with him too much.

Which further emphasizes my point, with how man likes following a person they consider "cool" or whatever. These small dudes were not saying shyt before Nas said shyt, and now that they've invested so much hate into Jay-z and all these things like "biting" etc it's so deep rooted that they will never get over it. Even if it's been more than a decade since they were beefing and toast to each others success today. I just wonder why it doesn't go both ways, why doesn't Jay stans hate on Nas like that? I mean Jay got 10 times more fans so Nas should get 10 times more hate given that Jay stans and Nas stans are equally corny/miserable. So the only thing that can explain this phenomenon is that Nas stans are generally infinite amount of times cornier than your average rap fan going by The internets that is.
