I'm not saying there are NO black R&B artists making good music, but there's a shytload that's not right now. Right now, Bruno is on top. Every woman in my family and the rest that I associate with are constantly playing Bruno Mars, but of course they have the choice to play ANY artist they want that's making good music. Dude is just popping right now.

When Beyonce's or Rhianna's next album comes out and has a hot single with a nice concept then they will be on top...Music is music so I can give a fukk about race, but nikkas starting to get real weird with the turning everything into a racial thing

This is a golden age of Black R&B/Soul artists, but you only seem to know about what mass media feeds you. Look into the following artists, who are killing shyt right now:

The Foreign Exchange
KING
Solange
Jesse Boykins III
Anderson.Paak
The Internet
Thundercat
Robert Glasper
Eric Roberson

Plus, many of our legends are still dropping heat rocks:

D'Angelo (just dropped an album in late 2014)
India.Arie (just dropped an album in 2017)
Musiq Soulchild (just dropped an album in 2017)

I HATE when nikkas start talking that "R&B is dead" shyt on the internet. R&B/Soul is producing the best music in the world.

I mean, young niccas say stuff like, "man, y'all old nikkas need to step aside and let us young cats make a new sound...it's our time"

Bruno and Timberlake and Adele just remake older styles of music and update it with newer slang and technology and sell millions.

They do benefit from not being Black and thus the, "oh, he got soul". But if a young Black dude was making music like Bruno or Timberlake, he'd be successful, not as much, but still successful.

Most of what you said is real shyt. But okay...people have all these streaming services and they ALL recommend artists based on what the user listens to. I've discovered so many good artists through streaming services, so how can you not blame the people? I pick and choose who I support. Who's fault is it that people see another person on the internet that's considered a "celebrity" and they feel they HAVE to listen to that person's music or follow them? To me that sounds insane.

Idk breh. I remember having a similar convo about Adele some months back and how her success will always be shady as fukk.

Black contemporary r&b artists don’t really have a lane anymore. Their services really aren’t needed since the Adele’s, Sam Smith’s, etc are taking over the genre. Most people don’t even know Keyshia Cole dropped a good reviewed album in October and that shyt flopped up the ass. But it ain’t the lack of quality because the reviews were good. She’s just a Black contemporary r&b artist who doesn’t have a lane.

It’s all a part of the agenda to eradicate Black artists completely.

Music is a business, don't take artist music so personally. You either support it or don't.

Its music. People like it or they don't. He's doing throwbacks but he's doing it well and taking the best parts of it. If it were that easy then Morris Day would be moving units right now. Teddy Riley would be poppin.

True, But now it feels like a scavenger hunt just to find some good R&B music.

They would be if they were cacs.

No he is not

R. Kelly is a talented artist he's not the greatest anything and he's never been

R. Kelly hasn't been shyt in over a decade for one

when I said CB isn't R. Kelly status

He has no classic songs under his belts, he has no classic albums, he don't write or produce on that level,

he can sing better than r. kelly, because he can't make songs like r. kelly

He ain't as big as R. Kelly was, nobody took over where R. Kelly left off, nobody ever took his spot, he got old and faded away
thats my point

who's the new big star, who's that guy, that person doesn't exist

also R, Kelly is the reason why CB, Trey songs are the way they are
he created that lane
he killed R&B by pushing it in that direction, it is what it is, you can't big up R. Kelly, and then shyt on CB, Songs, and these other rap singers, because R. Kelly stopped doing R&B and did the rap singing thing a long time ago lmao

So you focus on the ten years he hasn't been a mainstream fixture compared to the 14 years he had his foot on everyone's neck :ohhh: How long is someone supposed to stay in the spotlight? :mjlol: If anything it was amazing that a grown ass man was able to hold on as long as he did making music marketed to kids & young adults. Who else in black music (or overall for the matter) since the 90s has been able to cover as much ground musically as Robert? Sex, love, heartbreak, loss, inspiration, partying etc Who else was writing & producing for himself & others? Breezy & these guys you mentioned aren't in his league because like Pac they only dwelled on one aspect of his music yet couldn't wrap their heads around everything else they brought to the table..

Who better since the 90s than Robert? :picard:

once again you are missing the point

There isn't even a R Kelly artist in existence right now

Chris Brown has never dominated anything his entire career

black artist aren't even relevant in music outside of instagram

bruno mars is better than any black artist right now, and thats just the reality

you can call him a scam or whatever, but who doing it better than him

all these nikkaz is trash

you sitting here talking about R. Kelly dawg

He before my time

Aalyah been dead dawg, she would be mya status right now lmao, irrelevant

Why you still have to lean to R. Kelly for an example
who last big run was the early 2000's
I heard R Kelly's music, but I'm not of that generation
my R. Kelly is the Ignition remix, I'ma flirt R Kelly, not bump and grind

THATS THE PROBLEM

THE GAME IS THAT DRY

THE FACT YOU HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO R KELLY HAS A REFERENCE POINT TO COMPARE THESE NEW nikkaZ TOO

Dudes doesn't need any new ideas or creativity. All he does is jack Black music from the 80's and 90's.

How the fukk can your discography look like a throwback playlist?

I can see him calling Quincy Jones asking for some old Thriller throwaways sessions. On some "I'm a huge fan" shyt.

I’m actually not a fan of the song, and this is coming from a guy who loves New Jack Swing.

It sounds too fukking sterile. It lacked that certain grit that a lot of NJS records had. Pretty much a poor imitation of early 90s music.

I feel bad when I don’t like his music because it’s like I’m supposed to. I don’t think it’s all that good, especially in comparison to the styles he’s mimicking. He doesn’t have a super great voice and his look doesn’t stand out. I will give him props for showmanship though.
