once again you are missing the point

There isn't even a R Kelly artist in existence right now

Chris Brown has never dominated anything his entire career

black artist aren't even relevant in music outside of instagram

bruno mars is better than any black artist right now, and thats just the reality

you can call him a scam or whatever, but who doing it better than him

all these nikkaz is trash

I have no beef with Bruno...

What I will say is these guys are groomed differently thus their outcomes being what they are. Trey, Chris O more than likely have been encouraged since their inception to go the dance sex route because that's what urban radio wants fulfilled. They know the Z100 lane for black R&B is all but closed so to shoot for that would be a waste of time and an alienation of urban radio. Bruno on the other hand is a pop artist who makes enough money catering to that crowd to have the built in cache to be picked up on urban radio the minute he revs up the blackness. I remember Hot 97 would play "Slave 4 You" by Britney & "Gone" *NSYNC...it's a dirty game

Not true fam...

People seem to forget he "sharked" 70/80s acts like elton john and the police on his 2nd album, which went 4x platinum. He could have stayed in that lane for the rest of his career and feasted.

He just loves old music. I really don't see the problem with that.
his first album has "doo wop" in the title and was loaded with black features, writes etc. black influence in blatent. He was since transitioned into making exclusively black music.

He would be nobody with out black people behind his style/sound.

This is a throwback track and homage to the past but I bet 99% of you have never heard it:

Black artists are making true r&b, they just don't get nearly the same exposure by the people who control the media outlets.

They want safe, feel-good r&b to have a non-black face

you sitting here talking about R. Kelly dawg

He before my time

Aalyah been dead dawg, she would be mya status right now lmao, irrelevant

Why you still have to lean to R. Kelly for an example
who last big run was the early 2000's
I heard R Kelly's music, but I'm not of that generation
my R. Kelly is the Ignition remix, I'ma flirt R Kelly, not bump and grind

THATS THE PROBLEM

THE GAME IS THAT DRY

THE FACT YOU HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO R KELLY HAS A REFERENCE POINT TO COMPARE THESE NEW nikkaZ TOO

That's by design breh

This is a golden age of Black R&B/Soul artists, but you only seem to know about what mass media feeds you. Look into the following artists, who are killing shyt right now:

The Foreign Exchange
KING
Solange
Jesse Boykins III
Anderson.Paak
The Internet
Thundercat
Robert Glasper
Eric Roberson

Plus, many of our legends are still dropping heat rocks:

D'Angelo (just dropped an album in late 2014)
India.Arie (just dropped an album in 2017)
Musiq Soulchild (just dropped an album in 2017)

I HATE when nikkas start talking that "R&B is dead" shyt on the internet. R&B/Soul is producing the best music in the world.
If you READ ANYTHING I've said in this thread, then it would be clear that the mass media can't feed me anything. Everybody you named is making decent music but what does that have to do with them not being the most popular at this time? Bruno is making better music than anybody you named, and that's based on MY EARS... Not what someone is telling me. If I never heard any of those artists and listen to their catalogs I'd still say dude is making the best music out of all of them

What do you expect from a dude that's pretty much said "black music raised me. MJ is the greatest" ?

I fukk with bros music. Him and Mack Wilds doing throwback projects have been some of my favorite albums in the past like 5 years.

How is it by design

in every other era black artist were relevant because they were making the best music

black artist aren't making high level music anymore, thats the reality

you take being black for granted and think being the best at something comes with just being black

reality doesn't work like that, you gotta be in work, those past artist were great because they were serious about their craft
