Bruno has found the perfect safe lane below the explicit stuff Chris Brown, Trey Songz and their clones put out. I set up my mom's Google Home over the Xmas break where you can tell it to play music and the first thing she wanted me to set up her Bruno 24K Magic playlist.

Chris Brown just released a 45 57 song album a few weeks ago and you would think he would take a cue from Bruno with atleast 5 of those songs but no, its the same semi-rap/trap/explicit R&B that grown women don't want to listen to.
The shame is you know CB can do it but he always goes to far. CB's doesn't have any idea how to do nuance. :snoop:
For example, even though i think the song did well, this would have been a perfect, classic R&B song until I heard that damn chorus "FUKK you back to sleep girl" :gucci:

Fine China is a better example.... but Chris can't live down the stigma from that incident
Mainstream will never let him eat like "Forever" again

shyt, he might as well get Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to produce his albums. :mjlol:

He def biting but the thing is that him and his production team actually recreate the music so they dont have to blow dough sampling just copy the same instruments and tweak the arrangement. A lot of roger troutman bootsy morris day james brown influence in the music.

I enjoy the music but i think he is right in between paying homage and swagger jacking. Have any of the old legends like teddy riley etc come out with something negative to say about his music?

Dudes doesn't need any new ideas or creativity. All he does is jack Black music from the 80's and 90's.

How the fukk can your discography look like a throwback playlist?

I can see him calling Quincy Jones asking for some old Thriller throwaway sessions. On some "I'm a huge fan" shyt.

:wow:

Trey songz and chris brown are selling us our own stereotypes

the promiscuous black man who is nothing more than a salivating sex crazed wildebeest

and it's too late for them - if they went to their label with a bruno mars type of songs, they'd get laughed out of the office

Black artists don’t have the same label support behind them that these culture vultures do. You can’t blame people for not listening to the music and supporting it if they don’t know it’s there.

A lot of these artists are relegated to IG promotion. For people without social media, what are they suppose to do?

It’s called the Adele effect and I been saying this. A lot of these culture biting “crossover” artists are being pushed for a reason. Meanwhile, the Black artists making the same type of music get put on the back burner.

like i said in that other thread - Justin Timberlake gets an insane marketing budget and these music videos that cost over 1 million dollars easily

then his albums come out and they do 2 million - THEN he goes on tour and people are just jamming to his OLD shyt anyway not even really knowing these new songs

why not just take that marketing budget and pump it into an R&B division? these legacy artists like timberlake and beyonce are gonna do 100 million anyway, why not?

How are these new rappers making it off these millions of streams getting number one records but these r&b people can’t? People talking about the machine pushing certain artists but then also say radio is dead. How can both of these be true? If Bruno Mars is played on the radio all day then that’s part of being pushed... Streaming is supposed to cut this shyt out right? Post Malone out here with one song killing records and Lil Pump out here at the top for weeks but all these newer R&B people can’t get none of that? I mean Sza broke through, why can’t anybody else do it? Black people have literally made music just like that Bfuno song but people either hate it or dismiss is altogether. Stop just giving love to trap & b and blow up all this great r&b that people say is out here.

Thread could have been closed after this post.

OP wants us to be mad at Bruno for locking down a lane that SO MANY black artist could have went down.

But Nikkas would rather be Junkie fake rappers,

Hell my favourite CB song is “Fine China” which is kinda in the Bruno Mars lane, but he won’t stick to shyt like that:yeshrug:
I have this conversation in real life, Chris Brown should be a bigger star than he his right now.

My niece was playing Finesse, and i couldn't help but shake my azz.
New jack swing needs to make a comeback, asap.
NOOOOOOOO
They did it right in the 90's when they were actually serious about it

If every one started bringing back NJS people would get tired of it real quick

great r&b that people say is out here
.

I feel like the issue is to many R&B singers live in rapper world. They want to move and present their music the way the rappers do. To me this fukks their whole flow up. Cause at the end of the day people are going to want to hear rap lyrics over rap beats. The r&b singer over a trap beat is a novelty . Subject matter once you come out the gate singing that tough beat the p*ssy up shyt it goes down hill. It happened to trey and chris. The Weeknd, party and drake( who you can argue is a mix and of weeknd and party). They don’t do that shyt. Beyonce and Rihanna they dibble and dabble in that shyt but stay in the R&B lane(also the fact they have been the only two female artist in like the last 5 years is fukked up but thats for another thread).

Once the sex , soulfulness and pop left R&B shyt started to die.

I see people saying this but CB just released a 57 song album for no reason :what:
No way CB's label told him what and how to release that
CB recorded all those songs the way he wanted to
