I guess my grandma too, but she had two husbands in the military, and the second one didn’t make her pay bills they when married. She worked part time for clothes, shoes, jewelry, and trips.

she got out at like age 57 or so

The black boomer generation came up off govt jobs that opened up as a result of the civil rights movement and affirmative action, most of the black boomers in my family worked for govt (state or city), were teachers, and a few accountants

Before my grandmother passed away (RIP Josephine) she retired as a 42 year human resource officer at the shipping printing press in Brooklyn.

She enjoyed her remaining years watching wrestling, soap operas and telling us to shut the hell up when we were getting too loud

I didn’t retire.. I did 13 yrs.. got out.. finishing up school but I’m getting 6k from the VA and 4K for school.. goal os 10k from the VA… hopefully by end of next yr.. then I’m done… I’ll collect 3k from social security and my 10k from VA.. and getting the fukk out this country

Great Uncle was a high school principal. Retired, moved to Florida, travels the world with his wife.

Grandfather did a variety of jobs, but worked for the phone company for a good while and has a pension from them.
