Yeah that's the other rub: how do we support? Do we support by watching every credit, paying for it in a theater, paying for it on home video or do we not? And if you don't, does that make you less of a fan than the man who does?
I think if you paid for a movie ticket, bought the dvd/bluray or paid your monthly subscription to stream it then you've done your job in supporting and being a true fan. I can't knock the leakers and downloaders cause we all live different lives and have different schedules, but certain movies deserve some type of respect than others. Like the new Star Wars is too big of a movie to make any excuse to not watch it in theatres or on bluray.

Oscar season I think is an exception because we all go out of our way to watch these sometimes oddball out of the box movies we would not usually watch because we want to be apart of the awards debate. If you download those limited movies and are apart of the online discussion or recommend it to someone else, that should be enough to show support as a fan of films in general. I miss the days when limited movies were shown everywhere. Now most of those types of movies are straight to dvd/streaming.

If I've ever bought something on VOD/DVD/BluRay I have no regrets downloading it "illegally" later on if my DVD breaks or gets lost. Same with movies I can't get legally, I'll torrent them. If its out, its out.

Lol @ paying respects, such an antiquated concept. Internet changed the game, there's no point to them.

And don't get me started on opening credits...
