Not for long the way this is going.

What I mean is, even though MLB has no limit to how much they can spend, there has to be some bottom line somewhere to where they are no longer able to be profitable. They could be setting themselves up for disaster. If no one wants a guy like Adrian Gonzalez's contract now, who is going to want it in 4 years? I know they have that TV network coming up but even the Yankees eventually had to chill a little.

See that's the thing the yankees and dodgers are 2 of the top 5 most valuable/profitable franchises in Mlb

They basically got money to burn.Just look at how much dough the yankees made in 2010

Yankee Global Enterprises is a three-engine money-making machine. The baseball team generated $325 million in revenue from regular-season tickets and luxury suites in 2010. Sponsorship revenue at the stadium is $85 million annually thanks to deals with PepsiCo, Bank of America, MasterCard, Delta Air Lines and others.

The YES Network, the team’s 34%-owned regional sports channel, is the most profitable RSN in the country and had over $400 million in revenue last year. The Yankees own a stake in Legends Hospitality Management, which manages stadiums, and generates $25 million in operating income. The enterprise value for the Yankees, YES and Legends is $5.1 billion.

Thats 825 million in revenue in ONE YEAR.Now u see this is nothin to them and the dodgers are right behind them. What's a 150-200 million dollar payroll to a team bringin in 600-700 million a year?

Im saying our team doesnt pocket the majority of the money they generate, they spend it freely for the improvement of the team. They have handed out bad contracts in the process but it brought us 2 World series we good.

I hope they learn their lesson on the big contracts. I like seeing players develop through the farm system, and sticking with the same team. A chance to almost start over and hearing the entitlement of how we have to get the next big free agent is killing me lol.

Just as it was just getting good
Red Sox entitlement is the prime reason behind the consistently good baseball we've been getting the past 10-15 yrs :jawalrus: :smugfavre:
