Same way all the doctors deal with them. Go up some stairs

Sigh.

Anyway. Good start. Chibnall's use of everyday peoe and situations shine through. Interested to see how Ryan's Dyspraxia will be addressed in the coming episodes.

Still not really buying Whittaker as the Doctor yet. As someone who's sat through 800+ episodes of the Doctor being a man it will take a while. She's always been a great actor so I have faith in her.

The new theme is superb. Like a modern take on the early themes. The incidental music was a nice change as well. They made a good choice with Segun Akinola.

The location change from Cardiff to Sheffield was a great choice as well. I knew most of the upcoming guest cast revealed in the coming soon segment but there was a couple of nice surprises in there.

Optimistic but still wary.

Yeah, the visuals of Sheffield really made the show look different.

When that theme kicked in.....:banderas:

She did a good job. I still miss Moffat's over-the-top speechifying. Moffat writing a River Song/13 wouldn't be a bad one-off episode after Chibnall has established her.

13 still needs a chance to face an opponent that makes is seem impossible to beat. Still don't get a sense of the dynamic between the companions and the Doctor though.

I love the shyt out of this episode.

It was the first "debut" episode I've actually liked.

Ever.

It's really is like 5. Lots of moving parts.

But it being like 5 makes me leery. Who's gonna die? Who's gonna get tired of that life? Who's gonna be the traitor? anyway....

this SO much didn't feel like a Doctor Who ep. The cinematic wide screen, the secondary character development, the run time.....

it wasn't perfect, but it's refreshingly different. And it's scary that Jodie still gotta grow into the role.

I'd go more into it, but I been awake 36 hours.

This episode was really good.
I like Jody Whittaker's Doctor already.
And I even am cool with all of the new Companions.
Poor Nan though.:mjcry:

For those of y'all that don't get BBC normally (like me :mjcry:) BBC America has the whole first episode up for free on their website: The Woman Who Fell to Earth | BBC America

I thought this was about as good as it gets for new Doctor debut episodes personally; I think only Matt Smith's debut tops it off the top of my head. I especially like how the new composer ain't afraid to put actual electronic music in a goddam sci-fi show for once; don't know why modern sci-fi as a genre has such a fetishization for shytty generic orchestral trash for soundtracks when you've had classics like Blade Runner showing you how it should be done decades ago :birdman:

Oh and I ain't the only one who noticed the tooth fairy predator's landing pod was basically a slime from Dragon Quest right?

Worth noting that upcoming guest star Ben Bailey Smith is one of only a handful of musicians to appear in the show.

He goes by Doc Brown for his rap albums and reckon people on here will know him more from his work with Ricky Gervais.

Of course we had the lovely Kylie Minogue in 'Voyage Of The Damned', Welsh stunner Katherine Jenkins in 'A Christmas Carol' & Jazzmeister Courtney Pine in 'Silver Nemesis' the 25th anniversary special.

Bernard Cribbins who played Wilf had a hit with 'Right Said Fred' many years ago and The Beatles had a cameo way back in 1965 in 'The Chase' albeit not what was originally planned.

With the amount of actors who have appeared in the shows history and the amount of musicians who have turned their hand to acting I find it surprising how few have turned up over the years. Pretty sure Bowie was considered for a role over the years.

:heh: I've been imagining David Bowie being The Doctor's brother Braxiatel for years.
