Sounds like he doesn’t want accountability and is making excuses, which is typical Doc behavior. Those Clippers teams had as much talent as anyone in those years, and even if you want to argue that they didn’t, since he was the GM that’s on him too. :yeshrug:
I don’t think he is removing himself from blame

The Clippers were a really good regular season team. However, as a fan, you gotta be able to differentiate teams that are good during the regular season vs teams that are more effective in the playoffs.

In 2014, they were not beating those Spurs or OKC teams. Again, I never saw anything from that Clippers team to make me believe they could win a series against either of those teams.

I just find it funny because I really don’t have the perception of those Clipper teams being the best teams not to win a championship or some shyt. Nyggas talk as if they were the Blazers or Kings from the early 2000s.
Now to be fair, I do remember the Clippers getting hosed against OKC in their series. This was on the heels of the Sterling controversy and before Ballmer bought them.

MAVS WON 67 GMS
AND LOST IN THE 1ST RD.

CAVS WON 66 GAMES
AND LOST TO THE MAGIC.

2016 WARRIORS WON
73 GAMES AND LOST JUST
AS MANY GMS IN THE PLAYOFFS.

NOT SURE WHEN WE STARTED
CROWNING NUMBER 1 SEEDS.

GOLDEN STATE WAS STILL GREEN
AND STRUGGLED WITH MEMPHIS
BEFORE THEY DECIDED NOT TO
GUARD TONY ALLEN.

STRUGGLED WITH THE CAVS
WITHOUT KYRIE & LOVE.

THEY WERENT BATTLE TESTED YET

Make an edit..
You meant without Kyrie & K. Love..

You REALLY like that 3&D excuse

2 top 10 players
Defensive player of the year candidate
Perennial 6 man of the year candidate
Top 10 3 Pt shooter
Great bench production

No team is perfect…even The 17 Warriors

They had enough
Outside of Hot Sauce(Jamal Crawford) what bench do you speak of? We actually had a bench during Vinny The Black last year with the team before Doc was brought in. Doc's teams were extremely top heavy. Hack-a-(DeAndre) Jordon nullified his defensive excellence. JJ Redikk wasn't a good post season player. Hell yeah I'mma bring up the lack of wings issue that plagued us. Outside of Matt Barnes we picked up a washed Hedo Turkalou, washed Paul Pierce, washed Danny Granger, washed Caron Butler, washed Grant Hill, etc.. shyt was sad. Should've beat Houston though but we can also go in on how CP3 and Blake didn't want all the smoke half the time the post season as well.

The same clippers who were talking shyt in the media about the Warriors winning to never make the conference finals until the year 2021 when most of those clippers back then retired or ended up on other teams

Greg Poppavich gifted the warriors a title by intentionally losing the last game of the season to the pelicans and allowing them to make the playoffs and it fukked the bracket up completely.

But Doc is 100% correct. That clippers team had a 1 dimensional center, a PF who could only dunk (no offensive game outside the paint) an undersized PG with multiple playoffs and 1 dimensional wings who were either great shooters (reddikk) great scorer (crawford) or a defensive 1st guy (barnes). That team was never going to win

By 2014-2015 Blake had become a reliable jump shooter making it at league average

It’s crazy to hear all these reasons why they didn’t win which didn’t prevent them from being on the door step twice to win

2014 up 7 with like a minute left
20-15 up 18 going into the 4th with no Harden

At that point it’s the players fault and the coach probably more so. All you have to do is bring it home

If The Clippers we’re being outclassed talent wise then you’d have a point but that wasn’t the case their two best chances

They just choked
