I never felt at any point in time that those Clipper teams had potential to go the finals. They weren't good enough
I don’t remember how the west went playoff wise but I’m pretty sure they had the best team in the west before the warriors took off, it’s lowkey an indictment not only on doc but that whole team cause it should’ve worked, but according to doc them nikkas didn’t duck with each other

The Clippers were a really good regular season team. However, as a fan, you gotta be able to differentiate teams that are good during the regular season vs teams that are more effective in the playoffs.

In 2014, they were not beating those Spurs or OKC teams. Again, I never saw anything from that Clippers team to make me believe they could win a series against either of those teams.

I just find it funny because I really don’t have the perception of those Clipper teams being the best teams not to win a championship or some shyt. Nyggas talk as if they were the Blazers or Kings from the early 2000s.

MAVS WON 67 GMS
AND LOST IN THE 1ST RD.

CAVS WON 66 GAMES
AND LOST TO THE MAGIC.

2016 WARRIORS WON
73 GAMES AND LOST JUST
AS MANY GMS IN THE PLAYOFFS.

NOT SURE WHEN WE STARTED
CROWNING NUMBER 1 SEEDS.

GOLDEN STATE WAS STILL GREEN
AND STRUGGLED WITH MEMPHIS
BEFORE THEY DECIDED NOT TO
GUARD TONY ALLEN.

STRUGGLED WITH THE CAVS
WITHOUT KYRIE & BRON.

THEY WERENT BATTLE TESTED YET

Mavericks won 67 after they lost in the Finals and had plenty of battles with teams like the Kings and Spurs. They just ran into a bad matchup against GS.

Teams don't need to make deep runs in the playoffs in previous seasons to finally win a ring. The Rockets won a title in '94, but prior to that, they lost in the 2nd round, missed the playoffs, and had four first round exits.

ROCKETS WERE A VETRAN TEAM.

YOUNG TEAMS NEVER WIN IN
THE NBA THEIR FIRST TIME
ON THE BIG STAGE.

THEY NEVER GOT OVER THE
SPURS OR CLIPPERS HUMPS.

THEY WERE FORTUNATE THOSE
2 PLAYED EACH OTHER,
CLIPPERS HAD AN ALL TIME CHOKE
AND THEY RAN UP AGAINST A BUNCH
OF INJURED TEAMS.

ALL THE STARS ALIGNED THAT YR.

Sounds like Jamal and JJ wasn’t strong enough to believe in themselves to beat their opps on the court… talking about u the coach u should have us believe in ourselves…

Doc sounded right
That’s some shyt Mark Jackson was good for. That’s also the shyt why Mark Jackson got shipped out for. Because that’s all he could do. Up and coming talent, that works for them. But established vets and stars don’t need that shyt. It’s weird for JJ and Jamal to even have those responses no matter what we think of Doc.

GS was very similar to the 04 Pistons team. Core was around the same age. They had a mix of younger and older players. Difference is GS’s core was drafted there and the Pistons core got traded or signed there. Billups, Hamilton and Prince arrived in Detroit in 2002-03, and the following season, they won the championship. I’m not ignoring the Rasheed Wallace acquisition, but they were only together a season before winning it all. Steph was 26, Klay and Dray were 24 and Iggy and Bogut were 30. Billups was 27, Rip was 25, Ben and Sheed 29 and Tayshawn 23.

Doc was the head coach and GM of the team during that time and he never put anything around Blake, CP3, and DJ. Never had any 3 & D wings whatsoever. Couldn't pull off a decent or draft right. But still we shouldn't have lost to the Rockets where we blew a 3-1 lead that one year

You REALLY like that 3&D excuse

2 top 10 players
Defensive player of the year candidate
Perennial 6 man of the year candidate
Top 10 3 Pt shooter
Great bench production

No team is perfect…even The 17 Warriors

They had enough

Sounds like he being honest, I’m sure he tried to rally the throops but obviously clippers wasn’t ready
Sounds like he doesn’t want accountability and is making excuses, which is typical Doc behavior. Those Clippers teams had as much talent as anyone in those years, and even if you want to argue that they didn’t, since he was the GM that’s on him too. :yeshrug:

THEIR 3 BEST PLAYERS
WERE IN YR 6, 4 & 3
WITH NO CONFERENCE FINALS EXPERIENCE.

THATS UNHEARD OF.

PISTONS WERE OLDER
AND MADE THE CONFERENCE FINALS
THE YR BEFORE
SO IT WASNT THEIR 1ST TIME
ON THE BIG STAGE.
