Do you think Hov doesn't want to drop another album because he's afraid his sales will brick?

Are Nas stans really real people? :dahell:

This dude is 50+ with like 20 albums, 20 businesses, mad kids and on.

I don’t know why these weirdos are so eager for Jay to be as corny as they are. Like really doing psychoanalysis of dude with the assumption that he’s like them

y’all said the same thing about Kendrick and we saw how that turned out. This is a dumb talking point for someone on jays level.

Yes. He still performs so I doubt he has closed the door on his music career. His last album with his wife sold around 150k I think in the first week? However, the landscape of the music industry has changed, so I’m not sure how leverage relationships will help at this stage unless his lead single is with Ice Spice.

444 sold 262k its 2nd week
Didn’t have a traditional first week being it was exclusive to Tidal and gave away 1 million. Not to mention it was the 2nd most bootlegged album that year only behind Drake. The album double platinum now. Mind u jay z never had an album that launched day and date with streaming. 444 got on Spotify years later. 99% of artists would flop without Spotify. But not Jay

Jay easily doing 250-400k

Being 444 didn’t have a first week

Jay last lowest selling first week was in 1998 with vol 2. The was the last time he sold under 400k first week. 25 years ago
This ain't 2015 no he ain't what did that Carters album do?

What on earth is he gonna rap about to keep it real these days? Watching the heavens, stars, and moon at night? The sound of ocean waves, his back-up generators, keeping iguanas out of his pools, his monthly utility or maintenance crew bills? 😅

Push fleetwood Caddy's feelin' righteous
I eat good, no red meat I like Fish
Ya'll never in your life seen money
I live like a Gangster from the Nineteen Twenties
Smuggle bootleg liquor
I shoot 'till you dead nikka
I'm about bread, these rhymes is off the head nikka
Wear Esco leathers and Esco fleece
I flow off techno beats and rep the streets
You a one verse assassin
I'm a multiple LP long lastin'

I don't think it's fear of flopping (although having those #1's means something to him)

But I think Hov knows he can't make the impact he used to unless he makes those grandiose guest appearances (he's like Andre 3000 now when you think about it). Over a whole record, where does he go? And maybe the route is to just have one producer, not a long record, just enough time to tell us how much better he is than us. Nas has Hit-Boy. Maybe Hov links back up with No I.D. again. I don't know if there's another producer that fits Hov sonically now over an entire project (like I don't wanna hear Hov spit over 12 Harry Fraud or Alchemist or God help us all, Timbaland beats)
