Do you think DBZ and other manga franchises can ever replicate Marvels success on the silver screen?

I agree, but in no way would it do numbers away from Japan. shyt would be shown at art house theaters for like a week or so out this way.
Foreign Asian movies have shown to be popular in the west doe. All they need is decent marketing. Crouching tiger hidden dragon is an example. And with Asias middleclass growing and with expanding markets such as South Korea, China and malaysia where manga is big, i think it would feasible. They dont need the West to make money for hundred million dollar action movies.

I feel like Dbz is a hard sell to anyone that's not already a fan.

I dunno could you picture a major Hollywood studio pumping millions of dollars into a movie about characters named goku and trunks? could you sell something like that to the larger casual american audience?

We just need a hollywood studio to treat the source material with respect. Naruto would be so fukking dope live action with a 100 million dollar budget.

nah...Ive realised hollywood will probably b*stardize/westernize it and itll lose its authenticity, thats what happened with Evolution. Hopefully a japanese production house will do it in the future.

It wasn't trash, but the fact nikkas call it a political thriller still cracks me up:dead:

I wanna see a dedicated director turn Monster into a critically acclaimed tv series then take it from there.

The problem is the people doing the movies don't follow the blueprint. They want to add their own spin on it and try to do something different for no got damn reason.:beli:
