Do you think Biden made the right call in Afghanistan? And if not, what should he have done?

Did Biden make the right call in Afghanistan?

The optics are bad, but it actually further exemplifies why it was time to leave. If things were this bad after 20 years, what would another x number of years do?

This is what happens when you try to end a Forever War that never had any exit strategy. Deal with it. :yeshrug:

For real.

Do people think we were there for humanitarian purposes? That's ridiculous. This was a 20 year military operation that was trash from the beginning.

Unfortunately it's not us that have to deal with it, it's civilians in Afghanistan :francis:

But that said, I don't know what really could've been done to mitigate the situation. I guess it was a lose-lose from the jump.

This is one of the biggest fiascos in history.

You saw dead bodies falling from US aircraft , the Taliban cheering in Kabul, Afghan NATO civilian workers abandoned to their death, and mighty America humbled. This is embarrassing, humiliating and shameful for Joe Biden and the entire US government.

Which US ally will ever trust them again?
Are you a US tax payer?

It was time to go. This was lost from the jump when W. didn't take the Taliban's deal to hand over OBL. Russia got into a quagmire in Afghanistan that they couldn't win two decades before that, but fukk it, we just did it as well anyway.

If the Afghan War had been a surgical "get OBL and leave" deal, that would have been one thing, but this was another thing. A trillion dollars and a bunch of lives were wasted on this place.

definitely right to leave. sloppy execution on doing so. terrible optics. one thing biden ran on was rebuilding global diplomatic ties and alliances and i dont think this particular operation did much in the way of achieving that
Right move. Terrible execution.

I feel bad for all my buddies in the military. They got ptsd and substance abuse problems so the taliban could waltz right in and take Kabul.

Perhaps they should have left in May as originally planned before the Taliban had finalized deals to take local control of every remaining provincial capital.

But I still think there would have been some kind of shid show either way

This was always going to be the outcome of pulling out.

This idea that you could leave Afghanistan but with none of the consequences of doing so is not based in reality.

Might as well be now.

All facts. Can't believe CNN & MSNBC are fear mongering Americans into thinking we need to stay there... Forever.:martin:

Believe it breh

Defense contractors buy ad space on all these cable channels

They have defense analysts (former generals) who are paid by those same contractors but never disclose it on air
