Do you get turned off by Black events that seem like “Blavitiy, Root, New Black” type of function?

Are these the same types that like to have events and throw the word “Trap” in there somewhere in order for it to somehow in their mind sound “authentically black” yet they’re scared to death of folks that live in the trap?

Exfukkingactly. A lot of 2nd gen African immigrants and bougie Black people throwing trap-themed parties is no different than a white person throwing those parties.

They would never step foot in a real trap and were sheltered from that stuff growing up.

It’s that whole sophistiratchet flow that is popular, now.

I try to avoid them.

A bunch of our brothers and sisters that don’t believe in anything, searching for something. Jumping wave to wave, and cause to cause, never settling on one thing or seeing something through.

This is 90% of black Brooklyn events. It's either this First Friday Brooklyn Museum/Afropunk crowd or the hood Hennypalooza crowd here. You gotta pick your poison.

shyt be similar here in the DMV sometimes too but thankfully we got some events that are a happy medium between those two types of crowds like Moechella, H Street Festival, and Broccoli City.
