Do you genuinely think AEW will compete?

Do you actually believe it or do you just hope so?

They totally flopped at establishing a viable world title IMO.

Their fans don't buy Hangman Page as a main event guy and he was made a world title contender off the jump, imagine how mediocre you have to be for AEW fans not to rock with you when they go crazy for one-note meme stuff like Orange Cassidy.

Then on the show where they're gonna crown the company's inaugural world champion you spend more time promoting Cody vs the 10 guy. That whole show should've been built around the world title match 5x more than anything else.

It also didn't help that the Young Bucks couldn't control themselves and go out and do 1000 spots with ladders and tables and steal the thunder right before the world title match. Maybe put that match as the show opener and give the crowd time to get back up by the main event. Instead they sit on their hands watching Jericho vs a guy they don't care about.

Nah, they got no star power. Like Jim Cornette said, The Bucks n Omega basically signed all they Indy hack buddies like Michael Nakazawa, Orange Cassidy n Joey Janela instead of going after legit talent/stars. Peep how they fumbled getting CM Punk.

Ok. Where though? Like who?

If they could've landed Drew McEntire somehow, he'd definitely be a build around champ.

:dead:

I'm not high on them. They'll have some good shows here and there, but they're just like every other wrestling promoter. They're milking the money mark, hiring their friends and still out of touch

I think DM is a believable champ.

Has the size the look. Moreso than a 50yr old Jericho

McIntyre is the first “Vince guy” (i.e., muscle dude) in quite a while that can actually go in the ring. Wouldn’t be mad if he got a push soon. His matches with Cedric showed flashes of some great talent imo.

I think Cody has an idea of what he needs to do to make this successful, but I don't believe in The Young Bucks and Omega doing what is best for business.

The fact they are trying to come off as a realistic sports entity where wins and losses matter, but almost everyone has a comedy gimmick to them that take the piss out of the real sports feel you're going for. :francis:

They have some real ringers in there though. Even though people hate on him, Cody has actually been pretty money in a lot of these promos/matches/etc. He isn't being a comedy act, he is going out there and doing what he's good at. I actually think Adam Page can be something if they build him up and give him some time. Jungle Boy/Luchasaurus is a great pairing, need to work with great heels to really maximize them in a match. PAC is pretty much my favorite wrestler, but there aren't a lot of people on this roster I would like to see him in a match with. :manny:

What is going to hurt them is how thin the roster is. Only 36 guys in the men's division, and 11 in the women's. I went on the AEW site, and from what they have listed, they have 5 legit tag teams. :mjtf:

There isn't enough people who can actually wrestle for every match to be 10+ minutes. A lot of the matches just need to be 5-7 minutes and go to the next one....... but then you end up with not being able to fill up time. Also, the real sports/NJPW thing they're going for is dumb because they have more characters than wrestlers who can actually wrestle. :camby:

Pretty much this, I’m hoping whoever they have as surprises for the tv show (they have to have something) will flesh it out more

I want them to succeed

I think they will be fine, this feels different than when TNA started. TNA always felt like a second tier company no one wanted to see succeed. I think there are enough people that want AEW to be legit competition. Wwe didn’t acknowledge TNA for like 20 years and they have already changed their entire tv schedule and lineup to keep up with AEW . It’s no coincidence the smack down deal, the hiring of heyman and the nxt going live thing all just randomly happened around the time AEW got a tv deal.

They may never be no 1 but they will grow a dedicated fan base and start to take some of wwe viewers.
