Do you genuinely think AEW will compete?

Do you actually believe it or do you just hope so?

I feel like they'll eventually be less successful than WCW at it's peak but more successful than TNA at it's peak

I think they're already more successful than TNA. We'll see about ratings but having back to back PPV's sell over 100,000 is more than TNA ever did. TNA's high PPV buyrate was 60,000

Plus, they've already sold out 10,000+ arenas. TNA's high attendance figure was like 5500

While true, TNA had a consistent 4 year run featuring some of the biggest names in wrestling on a National Cable Network.

I’m kind of thinking about it from a ratings/star power POV.

It's not "Daddy's money" though. Tony is a co owner in multiple businesses with his father which means they earn together.

He’s using nepotism to get ahead. How is using your dad for some money any different than “daddy’s money”? I’m sure his pops put in to help. :skip:

I give Billy Corgan more props than Tony. :ld:

WWE is not nearly good enough for this not to have a shot. It would be one thing if they had Rock and Austin in their primes out there but right now the E's top stars are good wrestlers with limited star power. And as great as Bray's gimmick is he's not a proven draw yet.

There's a lot of people out there tho that still think wrestling IS WWE.. their loyal fan base. They won't make the switch for nuthin

It's not nearly big enough or loyal enough these days. At one point they could barely sell tickets for shows. There's all whole section of fans that AEW appeals to that isn't WWE fans. Let alone the dropped off fan after WCW folded. All I'm saying is they have a shot and money to last.

Yes. They are significantly further ahead in year 1 than TNA was in year 8. Double or Nothing did double TNA’s best PPV (and this is after years of WWE selling theirs for $9.99) and did slightly better then ECW’s biggest PPV. WWE’s reaction and subsequent counter programming only served to advertise AEW and let more prospective fans know of their existence. When AEW defeats NXT in the ratings war, it will legitimize AEW in the eyes of casual fans.

People thought the same of WCW until Hulk Hogan and Mean Gene showed up. WWE has too many wrestlers and not enough tv time to showcase everyone so inevitably the wrong (or right) guy will jump and you never know what can happen from there. TNA had Angle and Jeff Hardy jump but they ended up being junkies. What if the situations worked out right? We can find out.

...Vince did the same thing except he didn't build it from the ground up. Even the MSG deal was his father and Toots Mondt's thing. This isnt even the first business Tony owns so how is it his fathers money? Even then it's funny how this has been done all the time but is only an issue now though.

shyt ain’t even debuted yet and people already calling it DOA. A year ago when this wasn’t even a thought it was WWE sucks/NWG. Now on the eve of their debut they don’t have star power, they’ve run through all their matches etc... and everyone seems to stan WWE.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees this.

Fixed, that's were I'm at right now but as others have said, it really depends on how they do with their TV show.

In the grand scheme of things. I really don’t care if they compete or not. I just wanna see something new, different, and not WWE.

WWE for what it’s worth lost me and lost me years ago with a lot of they shyt. I only keep up with some storylines and I can’t really watch many of their matches cuz they seem trash to me with that trash style.

All they have in my opinion is “fukkery” and even that ain’t the best.

AEW and NJPW kinda give me everything I need when it comes to the world of wrestling

It depends. They're not going to have this year or two honeymoon period like some people think, and if it turns into the Rhodes & Bucks show every week then people will lose interest.

It seems like it. After doing incredibly great selling out shows in big arenas in the matter of seconds, fans are have gone into "wait and see" mode.

As of last Sunday:

Sold Out shows:

Washington Oct.. 2

Boston Oct. 9

Philly Oct. 16

Not Sold Out:

PIttsburgh Oct. 23

Charleston Oct. 30

Charlotte Nov. 6

Baltimore Nov. 9 (Full Gear)

Nashville Nov. 13

Chicago Nov. 27

Which makes sense, imo. They need this first 3-4 months to not only figure out how to get their TV show going, but also learn which buildings and cities they should aim at.

If they get any momentum in October-November, it's gonna get really interesting :leon:
