It's cool for Kaep to play, BUT my thing is Alex Smith took you to within secs of the SB last year, deep into the playoffs.....are you really expecting Kaep to do that?

He's not a rookie, but he's still got alot to learn.
And when he hits the wall, you're gonna be expecting Smith to come in and save you.

fukk you punk. Favre was a drunk and got a second chance. Ryan Leaf was a dopefiend and got a second chance. Jamarcus couldn't even make a pre-season squad because he was a nikka.

alex smith got a chance under harbaugh because he was the best qb option at the moment and was quiet and willing to take whatever was thrown at him.

alex was a placeholder for harbs who plugged his guy in after the first alex injury.

alex was a backup to jt osullivan and shaun hill and troy smith before.

jawalrus was ever a backup or content with being a backup ?

jawalrus threw 3 tds and 11 picks his last year for the raiders. alex smith after rookie year was never that terrible

And your absolutely right about Al Davis, that old man LOVED is players to a fault. He would always have over the hill players that he should have gotten rid of but just kept them around because of their company so that tells you Russell wasnt shyt.

Who cares? If you're a fan of the team you don't want to be "excited" you want to win.

Kaep is doing a good job though and is proving he is definitely a quality NFL starter, I just think a lot of fans are worried that he is gonna have to take his lumps and have a few bad games, like any other young QB, and those bad games are gonna come at the worst time.

But if the defense keeps playing like they did yesterday, they might not have to worry about the QB position

think Vernon Davis wants ALex Smith to start because he knows he'll get the ball more??

With Kaep, they can go more vertical which means that Davis will see less balls thrown his way.

It's hard for me to feel sorry for him. Yes, his growth was stunted by a revolving door of terrible coaches and coordinators BUT Harbaugh is the best coach he could ask for. Harbs did limit Alex's decision making but rightfully so. Alex made some plays and improved but in the biggest game of the year against the Giants in the NFC title game he couldn't move the ball. Then against the Giants again this year he was terrible.

We can beat teams... a lot of teams with Alex but when it comes down to the elite teams like the Giants.. I'm not convinced. We beat them in the regular season last year but our defense was playing very very well. That's the issue with Alex. In order to win the Super Bowl our defense would have to play lights out every game and our running game would have to be on point as well.

If you watched the game against the Saints yesterday... our defense made a lot of big plays (sacks, pick sixes) but they also gave up some big pass plays. If Alex plays in that game I'm almost positive it would have come down to the final possession. We probably win by three. Maybe. With Kaepernick we won comfortably by ten and if it wasn't for Akers it'd be more..

Are you really expecting Smith to be able to do that in back to back years though its not like the Niners are going to be playing defenses that are challenged like the Packers and Saints on the road to a Lombardi.
