wtf, are people in this thread from ny or lived there for a while or something

its one of the safest place you could fukking be. you say there are bad parts, but they don't compare to the bad parts anywhere else. most parts of the city is more or less still active 24 hours. if you worried then all you have to do is walk in the middle of the road

People exaggerate how dangerous NY is. I got lost hella times by Marcy Projects and all the white hipsters were very helpful. Some drunk bum did grab me though when I walked to the store to get some looseys but the little dopeboys were quick to help.

I think its the fact that as you get older you feel like you got more to lose, and also, with the age of the internet, you see more stuff all the time. Plus, I be seeing mad things, like dudes just getting fukked up and all types of other things that never make the news.

Speaking on Harlem though, they just showed that some tourist got shot at a hostel there last night.

I feel safer here then when I lived in Philly, but still, for people thinking NY is all super-safe they're in for a rude awakening.

It depends on the particular area, the people and the time that you are outside. It seems pretty decent compared to other states like in the South. I have a friend from Houston, Texas who thinks Bed-stuy is very dangerous like in the 80's. I just laugh.

NYC is generally very safe. You can walk around most parts of the city at almost any time, you'll be fine as long as you're not an idiot. Of course you can't be walking through Brownsville at 10 PM at night and not expect some shyt to jump off but I was in Carnasie, Brooklyn and it was whatever.

Like someone said earlier though, it's places like Camden, fukked up parts of Detroit and Cleveland.. those small rundown towns with abandoned homes, 2 strip malls, a 7-11 and a liquor store that you gotta worry about. That's where you really gotta be on your shyt. There's no cops on every block like NYC. If you get fukked up, you get fukked up.

My Pops Forever RIP
I'm born and raised in the Bronx and I'll tell you what, it doesn't feel any safer.

Anywhere else in the city though, shyt, I was comfy. Just last week I was out in Astoria at 2AM by a diner and not a care in the world. As soon as my homie drove me back over the Triboro to the BX through Claremont/170, an area I know so well, I never wanted eyes in the back of my head more than I did then just to make sure of everything around me.

Being from BK, it feels a lot safer than it used to, but then there's a day like yesterday where a dude gets popped as soon as the clock hits noon, in the middle of the neighborhood with kids playing on a summer day. It's cleaner but the projects are the projects.

The Bronx is still a mess, but it is safer.

A lot of the bad dudes that arent in jail have all mvoed up upstate to places like Newburgh, Binghamton, Albany etc...

If you want an unsafe city walk around Albany...its smaller and one wrong turn and you never know.
