Men, in general, don't really respect women enough but it looks worse for black folks because everyone else is already against us so division between us is magnified.
This

Im all for getting more brothas to respect sistas but lets not act like its exclusive to black men.

Some of yall use racist logic without even noticing because you think its ok when it comes to the opposite gender.

black men literally worship black women our community is a matriarchy for petes sake

all the simpin and pandering going on

black women dont respect black men enough if anything

It's a matriarchy by necessity since black men were being killed, incarcerated, and the like.

Simping and pandering isn't s sign of respect. Hillary is pandering for black votes now but she doesn't respect you. Creating idealized versions of what black females should be and trying to place black women onto those pedestals isn't respecting women,

Black men, just like men in general, tend to be disrespectful to women as our peers. Go look at how quickly men will dismiss a female's life experiences or viewpoints with "Well, she's ugly as fukk so who cares" or the "She's had sex with a bunch of dudes so her entire opinion is completely invalidated".

That viewpoint comes from a lack of humanization and empathy. Say what you want but black women, as well as women in general, are much better at empathizing than we are so they've typically empathized with us which is why you see so many black women protesting for black men.

But it's changing. Black men and black women are communicating better and deeper. Black Men are finally starting to listen to women which is why you see CAC media trying to promote CAC males and black females because they know that we're waking up and learning how much power we have when we unify.

I was listenin to doggystyle today and I started thinkin like man dat whole era was super #HOH

Imagine being a young girl growin up during that time and steadily hearin from men in ur community that women aint shyt and deserve to be disrespected, like that can have a legitimate effect on ur psyche. Its funny a number of men like to constantly point at some women's less then rightous behaviour, but be the same nikkas projecting that behaviour onto all women and propagatin it. Be the same nikkas encouragin other nikkas to treat women like dirt, for no reason other than theyre women.

I mean that conversation is still really relevant today. Just the fact that the word "bytch" is a default term for woman points to men's concept that a woman isn't to be respected until she earns it. If she displays some type of Mother Theresa like holiness then she can get upgraded to a more favorable word, but before that she a bytch.

And then you also think about how a lot of black men have had no problems for yrs praising non-black women and almost making it seem like being a full non mixed or "exotical" black woman is a L, just makes me think. I feel like as black men we have some growin up to do when it comes to gender relations and especially valuing black women in the way they deserve to be.
Doggystyle was an R rated album. A young girl who's growing up shouldn't be listening to it. There's nothing for a young girl to relate to.

There isn't any lyrics on the album that specifically talk about black women. bytches and hos exist and they come in all races.

The disrespect in the back community goes both ways, it's not just a black man lacks respect for black women thing. I take movies like Waiting to Exhale as disrespect. I take the whole black feminist mentality that has been ingrained in black women for the last 40-50 years as disrespect. Ultimately tho, this is all orchestrated and the focus should be on the orchestrators. Pointing out fingers at each other is counterproductive.
Hell no they don't.

I'm sure this thread will produce a million "A lot of women don't deserve respect." Da fuk? People should be respected until they disrespect you period.
Can you admit that black women lack respect for black men? If you can't do that then you hold no weight whining about the lack of respect for black women.

I sure can. Do acknowledge that Black men are disrespectful to Black women? If not you have no place whinning and trying to flip the subject.

Black women outnumber and outperform black men. Not due to merit, due to placement and "given opportunity" (less threatening/more malleable/people who have children can be controlled)
Respect is earned.
Consideration is automatic.
If you haven't earned any respect, you won't get any. You can't automatically give respect to somebody because they resemble you.

As with most things the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Both sides lack respect for each other.

Blaming black men as a whole because self-confessed thugs had no respect for women is absurd and completely unfair.

I've read lots of good responses in this thread.

Respect begets respect. I've never seen a black man be disrespectful to a black woman.

We still need to learn to respect each other. We need to teach these things to our children.

Let them see the importance and beauty of black love and what it means to our community.

People need to stop with the black men/black women ain't shyt pander post on social media.

Just because you've dealt with one person that about shyt doesn't mean all of us ain't shyt.

But back to what I was saying I think that Doggystyle was talking about a certain type of woman.

It's so many women out here no matter the color that don't deserve respect from others because they don't respect themselves.
