Yes if you was to rank Flair on mainstream star power he would be anywhere between 4 to 7 with Macho Man, Andre The Giant, and Rowdy Pipper. The top 3 will always be Rock,Hogan, and Austin

hulk Hogan is being severely downplayed in this thread.
I don't know if this is being done on purpose or if dudes is just young in here.

Hogan was clearly bigger than Austin & flair.

at this point, I think its safe to say that theres no bigger name than the rock in modern wrestling history. theres people who don't even know the rock used to wrestle.
but if we're talking from strictly a wrestling notoriety standpoint, i'd still put Hogan ahead of the rock.

I wouldnt. No way wrestling could be mentioned in the last 20 yrs and not know who Rock is. Hogan? Maybe...maybe not.

Hogan is and always will be number one in terms of popularity. He was just too big for too long in every era.

Rock is second and Austin is right under that.

Next tier I would put Macho, flair, And maybe Cena.

Unless you grew up during the attitude era.

well Hogan has barely even been active in that time period.

that's why I said modern history, circa '85 to present.

and if we're really talking ALL-TIME, theres a slew of other names that should be mentioned.

even if you want to base it on a scale of limited knowledge, Hogan was still at the top during that time period.

youre moving goal-posts for nothing.

yea, hogan sparked TWO different boom periods for pro wrestling in two different decades in two different promotions.
the rock & Austin cant touch that.
I will say that the rock is a bigger household name tho. but that's moreso Dwayne Johnson. its a slippery slope.

I don't see how cena is anywhere near the conversation tho.

He fell off though and the Rock never did. He just left on top. Returned in 2011..instant million buys. Topped that a year later..and did another million a year after. Hogan cant do that and never could even during his nwo run.

its easy to say someone never fell off when they went into semi-retirement at age 30 while at their apex.

also, youre comparing different eras/landscapes.

what did the rock do for the business in comparison to Hogan?

in wrestling no. Flair was at the top of the business for like 30 years. In mainstream America the Rock is bigger than the other two.

cism aside, in terms of popularity and being synonymous with wrestling
Hogan
flair
The Rock
Austin
Savage
and this is when people start getting random because a lot of people start naming their personal favs. For example, my mom (rest her soul) would have told you her "man" was Tatanka. :russ:

if we're keeping it real, after the rock & Hogan, its all relative.

im inclined to putting the warrior ahead of savage, but at the same time, I can also put savage ahead of flair/Austin, cuz theres people who don't know them but know the macho man.

I can mix & match a bunch of names after the top two.
