Glad my wife don't wear a weave. She wears it curly and she got a lot of hair. I don't realize how long it is until she straightens it
Oh, and she Black too
Weaves are
My larger point is that we (black people) must be encouraging and compassionate toward one another--not fault-finding and critical. I know how difficult that can be at first, but it's ultimately the best way to build up our communities.
nah.
they'll never stop wearing weave the problem is bigger than you think.
Weave is basically a woman's confidence and damn near a sign of faux-wealth/status. Take away weave and all these hoes are on the same level.
I know ya'll nikkas have seen the difference weave makes. A girl can go from being humble to thinking her shyt don't stink.
Another problem is that many black women don't know how to care for their natural hair. In many respects, our hair is different (in a good way) from that of other races.
Yet, there's so little reliable information about our hair. The Science of Black Hair is loaded with information, and the author has nice hair herself. She used to have long relaxed hair, but she now wears it natural.
Anyways, I realize that there are YouTube tutorials and forums about black hair, but it definitely helps to have most of the information in one place. I believe that's what the book does.
Some black women just want a different type of look. There are other types of women who wear hair extensions too. At the end of the day, I don't see why it matters in the slightest.
That's one thing I respect about the white race. White men are like " you want me to make a certain amount a year to be with you, you gotta be in shape and look good" and white women, for the most part, comply. Same way the women go "you want me to stay in shape and look good, you gotta make a certain amount a year to be with me" and white men, for the most part, comply.I feel op but i think it's too late. Once there is no incentive to doing something, a person or a group will not waiver off the current course. Just like how you see more white women working out. Black women CAN be out of shape and wear silly weaves and still get mostly what they want from us. I think it speaks volumes about the level of respect collectively that they have for black men. Imo, white women take care of their bodies bc they want to be desireable and live a healthy lifestyle. Black women want to have this as well but at the end of the day are like "whats the use"..
