Sudan/New Zealand.
Do you believe Omar Bashir needs to be removed and NOW? And that he is a genocidal maniac bent on destroying much of African culture and even people in Sudan? Just wanted to ask you this since you're Northern Sudanese yourself.

Yes, along with his blind followers, it is 26 years too late. Unfortunately he has supporters.

The question i really don't understand, you have multiple cultures in Sudan which contrast with each other, and every country that border Sudan there is a obvious overlap of people, and cultures. The Far North is more like South Egypt, since historically and ethnically in reality we are the same, South are physically and to a certain extent culturally no different than South Sudan, Western Sudan ethnically and historically part of what is now Chad, and the same to a certain extent with the North Eastern Sudan with Eritrea, and add west African migrants who came over a century ago, you have a plethora of different peoples, cultures, languages, and traditions, which varies from region to region. As far as the fighting goes alot of it is political, to a certain extent regional and ethnic dominance and also issue in regards to development or lack of developing other regions.

I don't think so for the most part. Certain aspects of tribalism should just be erased. If anything regions should be strengthening ties.

But in my opinion I don't think a nation like Nigeria should separate. Nigeria is a potential powerhouse if they stay together. A separate Nigeria would only become weaker imo. The north and south should work things out, but thats highly unlikely...

I agree. But that's with us seeing the potential and power of supranational entities like the EU. Africans have to come to that realisation on their own volition before that happens. I think if allowed to balkanise, Africans would realise that they're better off together and united rather than operating as small tribal states. Once they see the massive imbalance in bargaining power between their small tribe and the EU juggernaut, they would seek close cooperation with those around them. That's when things will improve.

Perhaps they might re-form as a Nigeria....perhaps as something different but the key difference would be...they now see the bigger picture and a consensus has been reached. It would be up to the people to develop their own system and work out how close they want to integrate with their neighbours.

This is a controversial opinion in this thread but I'd prefer if ethnicities in Nigeria were allowed to peacefully secede from the country. The centralization of the Nigerian state has created a situation of marginalization for tens of millions of people.

Botswana is like 80 per cent Tswana speaking. Although the Tswana are made up of many clans, it's considered a single ethnicity.

It has to be more than that. Somalia is the most homogenous country in Africa. 85% ethnic Somalis....100% Muslim...same culture...same language. Yet the one of the most conflict prone states in Africa.

You can look up Botswana's demographics online.
Clan structure (plus Al Shabab) contribute to Somalia's present conflicts. Botswana's clan elites were far more unified in the 20th century. And Seretse Khama was a good leader relative to most African leaders in the 20th century

I already know all of this. What I am saying is that Omar Bashir wants to eliminate all non-Arab culture in the Sudan no matter if the non-Arab cultures are different from one another or what region of Sudan they are in. The lunatic even wanted or planed to flood out all the Nubian ruins. The guy clearly wants an even stronger Arabization of the Sudan.

I think Somalia and Eritrea both kinda debunk the idea that African countries need to be split up more than they have to.

How come?

People claim the borders need to be redrawn due to different ethnics being bunched together. Yet...

Somalia is extremely homogeneous in ethnic groups and culture and yet Somalia is the "Afghanistan of Africa."

Eritrea has always been historically apart of Northern Ethiopia. Both Northern Ethiopians and Eritreans are mostly the same group; Hesbesha and same cultyre. Yet Eritrea still wanted its independence. I think it has more to do than just ethnic groups being bunched together.
