The Last of the Outlaws
Bought it just to hear LL respond to Canibus on the bonus disc.

Didn’t know I was in for a fukking CLASSIC listening experience. 20 years later I still find time for that album. Just a masterpiece

That brother caught the Holy Ghost on nikkas done started something. Textbook definition of blacking out on a track and this was AFTER ma$e got done blacking on the same song.

Rappers today don't black out no more unless it's for an opioid related reason :hhh:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
highschool memories:mjcry:

I remember the smell of rain and the chills down my spine when I was bumping this shyt

those bells:merchant: DMX's verse:whew:

The final verse of Look Through My Eyes always gave me chills :wow:

"I bear my soul, nikkas wouldn't dare, my role
Give to nikka a heart of gold but with a hole
Lost all control, my shoulders hold a lot of weight
Just like first I'm sold an eight, then told it's not an eight
But then it's out of state, and it's too late for changes to be made
That's what I get for fukking with strangers in the shade
This is it, y'all nikkas got to give me a plate
For the same reason that fate, chose to give me the way
Take away hate, now I'm supposed to love the one that cursed me
The one that wouldn't give me a cup of water when I was thirsty
It was always him versus me, but now I gotta teach him
Personal feelings put aside, 'cause now I gotta reach him
What I'd like to do is turn my head, like I don't know him
But it seems like I've been called on to show him
So I'ma show him
And if you never met me, then you've no right to judge me
I've got a good heart but this heart can get ugly"
One of the realest verses on the album.

my nikka is the literal GOAT.. ill be back to talk more about X later but ive never heard an album as good as this front to back.

imagine trying to actively get a record deal since 85 ... being unsigned hype in the source in 92 and not blowing until 98?
now a days nikkas make one song and put it on youtube and are famous. X debut album was 26years of struggle and pain unleashed over 18 songs

X also wrote a large portion of this album in jail. which is why he rapped with a scattered flow on alot of songs. he didnt have beats in jail.

the power of this nikkas grind was incredible. realist nikka of all time. so controversial and contradictory.. but thats human nature... we all have been guilty of doing some fukked up shyt and then praying to god for help.. you cant relate to tje pastor in church who projects a perfect image. but you can relate to a nikka that comes where you come from having a conversation with the lord.

What's y'all favorite bars from the album

"I sold my soul to the devil, and the price was cheap
A yo it's cold on this level cause it's twice as deep"

"If you wasn't born wit' it then, it wasn't meant for you to be
But you can't blame me for not wanting to be held
Lock down in a cell where a soul can't dwell
This is hell, go to the Devil and get me the key
But can't be worst than the curse that was given to me"

"Hit you on a level of a madman who's mind's twisted
Mad nikkaz dreams caught the last train, mines missed it
Listed as a manic depressant with extreme paranoia
Hey dog, I got something for ya
Hear my name, feel my pain, nikkaz wanna steal my fame
But first feel my reign, know what it's like to suffer, never
have enough of shyt, startin' off hard than only gettin' rougher"

"I bear my soul, nikkas wouldn't dare, my role
Gives a nikka a heart of gold but with a hole
Lost all control, my shoulders hold a lot of weight
Just like first I'm sold an eight, then told it's not an eight
But then it's out of state, and it's too late for changes to be made
That's what I get for fukking with strangers in the shade
This is it, that nikka's got to give me a plate
For the same reason that fate, chose to give me away
Take away hate, now I'm supposed to love the one that cursed me
The one that wouldn't give me a cup of water when I was thirsty
It was always his versus me, but now I gotta teach him
Personal feelings put aside, cuz now I gotta reach him"

"Day 2 of the saga
This fukkin' drama continues
Wakin' up like every 2 hours, lookin' out my window
Plus I keep the 4-4 pointed at the door
Just in case, when they bust in, I bust them
And I'm gunnin' for the face
"What a waste of potential" is what my teachers used to tell me
"You can always get a job" that weak shyt they tried to sell me
Got me no where but broke and fukked up in the game
But now I got a name, and nikkas know my name"

"My people show love and haven’t left me stranded yet
Though I have a death wish it ain’t been granted yet
So until then I’m gonna be that nikka all up in your chest
Until the lord decides to lay my ass down to rest
Bless my body at the funeral and hope I don’t burn
Was a hard headed nikka and nope I don’t learn
Saw the truth but chose to ignore it wasn’t goin for it
My nikka had to give it to me (AHH!) then I saw it"

The crazy thing about X was I don't even know how to categorize the album. It's not a gangster rap album. It's hardcore for sure, but there's darkness, he's the most vulnerable "street" rapper I ever heard on this album. It had the elements of despair, depression, anger, extreme violence.

nikka :wow: shyt was so real inbetween the cursing, barking and thuggery. X spit some of the most introspective bars of all time sprinkled into some gangsta shyt
