I think of border as - DC/PG. It takes you 45-1hr to even get to MoCo.

Plus they just got a stop within the last few years. Before then no one considered them a part of DMV. A metro stop doesn’t make a difference.

For context, ‘DMV’ the term is new itself. Only about 20 years. Before it was just m‘Dc metro area’, and these questions weren’t asked, bc it was sight toward. Everywhere that’s a suburb of dc, simple.

All I know is I went to college came back and all of a sudden it was “DMV”. Means the same but when it gets outside of our borders it becomes a game of telephone the meaning gets lost and some folk take it literal.

As for your comment about Jersey yes it’s true Jersey City and Newark have their own identity and the black Jersey folks overall do to but the people who live in upper northern NJ do claim NYC as their city mostly cacs and Asian tho.
