the album is waaaaaaaaaaaay different than the promo/listening party album...

2:00

2:12-2:30

a couple of songs on blaqout was originally on that book of david album.....listening version

n the ice cube song was on the blaqout listenin release...

if quik would release the shyt he finish and turns in while he still in the zone...its alot of albums that would be doper than the actually release

book of david, rhythmalism, balance and options and safe n sound...

I don't know what it is @shopthatwrecks but ever since The Book of David, Quik been rhyming different.

It almost sounds like he doesn't write his rhymes down anymore, like sometimes the rhymes sound like he freestyles em' or he writes them at the last minute

But I've noticed since like The Book of David, Quik's rhymes sound disjointed or something

After going back through his all of his solo albums last yesterday, Balance & Options was the last great Quik album

The last classic is Rhythm-al-ism and it's a toss up between Safe + sound and Rhythm-al-ism being his best, I can see someone saying either of the two

If I had to pick, I'd go with Rhythm-al-ism, that's the Quik album that won me over in 98'

Oh yeah? Word, it sounds like it too.

Yeah, the last album where Quik sounded like "Quik" was Under Tha Influence, tho that album was the first album where after his grand three album run (Safe + Sound, Rhythm-al-ism and Balance & Options) the songs won't hitting as hard and just sounded flat to me.

Trauma was different. It was a more stripped down sound but I think he was trying to find his way and do something different.

Balance & Options is the last great Quik album in my opinion tho. The sequencing on that motherfukker is perfect

Under Tha Influence was the first time Quik's sound sounded fatigue.

Yeah, you can tell how he switched up his sound on Trauma and was working with new sounds and equipment

I remember being shocked he got all of Jodeci for a Quik's Groove.

Word, that shyt would've been tight back then when K-Ci and Jojo could still sing. :mjcry:

I can't even imagine how amazing a Jodeci album would've sounded with Quik and DeVante producing the whole thing.

shyt would've been the best thing since slice bread.

Have you heard them recently? :usure:

Studio tricks is 1 thing but even with all the studio tricks in the world, their voices don't even sound remotely good anymore. Like not even close

Even with the studio tricks they pulled for that Jodeci album that came out back in 2015, you could still hear all over that album how K-Ci and Jojo voices were gone

Word lol

I guess to me, it's like their voices were so nice when they were in their primes, that anything less than that is just a travesty

shyt, these days Dalvin even sounds better than K-Ci and Jojo in my opinion and that's saying a lot cause that nikka mainly just sang background back in the day

Was DeVante at that show? Cause last few shows lately it's just been K-Ci, JoJo and Dalvin
