Because u can give many black ppl a billion dollars and they still won’t take their own culture seriously. Matter fact, the more u give them, the more they’ll sell out.

Other genres dikkride their popular acts so u know they sellin bullshyt. Black media talks down on their acts because they feel they get more opportunities from c00ning.

Drake literally did an interview w yatchy recently. This fakkit nikka shoulda just said he wants drake to himself

And yatchy’s jealousy was palpable throughout the whole thing. Drake has a way of sometimes making himself look dumb with his attempts at acceptance.

But I been saying this for a minute. If Durk did a tape with Fewtch or Drake, he would kill them and not take their spot but put himself right there. Durk just doesn’t have the motivation to be that consistent on his own at the level he’s at.

That’s why Drake did a tape with Savage. Yea savage is jealous of Drake, but he also can’t really hang on a track with him usually and he hasn’t since Sneakin.

So Drake knows what he’s doing when he panders. It doesn’t do much for the culture but it keeps him on top.

stop being a pass aggressive puzzy and say your hero drake dont wanna do an interview w/ you and stop dragging introverts that primarily drop music and mind their business like kendrick and everyone's envious whipping boy, cole.

i fux w/ ak, but he been acting like a real dbag, lately.

real truth is, all these part time messy "media outlets" think they can say anything about you then youre supposed to sit down and smile in their face and have a drink for 2 hours, so they can dox you until they get their viral clip. no nigg@, go interview them washed up soundcloud rappers that allow you to talk to them any kind of way. oh wait, nobody care.

What exactly would be the motivation for any artist who has full control of their own narrative to sit down with these chatty patty, agenda driven, unprofessional ass nikkas?

DJ Akademicks is cool, but his focus has ALWAYS been on the sensationalist and negative aspects of the culture. His channel is 24/7 gossip, beef, exposes, snitches, and the general distasteful aspects of Hip Hop. There’s zero balance. No album reviews, no takes on the music that isn’t Drake related, nothing but negativity.

Now WHY would Kendrick Lamar, Cole, or Drake interview this nikka when all he’ll do is dig for bullshyt? Ak ain’t really listening to these albums to really have thoughts about the themes present in Mr Morale & The Bug Steppers. He’d dig to know if Kendrick was beefin with TDE and why he left the label.

Hell Elliot Wilson, a THIRTY YEAR Hip Hop journalist, whined and cried and bytched about not getting to interview Nas all of these years and when Nas finally grants him the interview for a major publication (GQ) on the night of a historic sold out concert at MSG, Elliot HAD to ask a dumb ass question about Nas battle with Jay-Z. A battle that took place TWENTY TWO YEARS AGO and had absolutely nothing to do with the four albums Nas was there to celebrate.

If Elliot Wilson displays a poor lack of journalistic integrity then just IMAGINE the shyt show an Akademicks interview would be. REAL Artists don’t need that type of bullshyt. Who the fukk wants to deal with Joe Buddens hating ass? Nore’s drunk, slurring, won’t let the artist finish a thought ass?

Thats why artists are starting to either have their own podcasts or media entities or conducting interviews with the people like Coop from A2HH. Guys who are actually fans and do their research and keep it about the MUSIC.

Yachty practically Drake’s shadow nowadays. That shyt don’t count.

And AK has turned on Drake within the last two weeks. That tells me that nikka got denied for whatever press junket Drake is lining up. Or he got denied press passes for that tour.

That ninja turtle looking nikka is petty as shyt.

Both Cole and Kendrick have a relationship with some great hip hop personalities like Angie Martinez, Letty, DJ Hed, Big Boy, and others. All of whom are more than capable of doing an interview without the bullshyt questions, click bait, etc. I respect and support the way both artists restrict access and don't devalue themselves with nonstop attention. They drop an album, sell a bunch of records, go on an arena tour and then disappear. But I also think there's something important about artists discussing their process, inspiration, etc every now and then. And I'd rather that be done with valued journalists or DJs within the culture than outsiders.

Kendrick put out a Podcast last year with the entire team behind TPAB discussing the the process, inspiration, etc behind the making of that album

Interviews are no longer necessary for an artist to present themselves or their work or the process BEHIND their work to the masses

Of course they aren't doing Hip-hop interviews

It's also flat out not true.

AK overestimates his influence on hip hop media. 5-6 years ago, he was mostly known for covering street shyt and having shytty hot takes on Everyday Struggle.

Kendrick did interviews with Breakfast Club and Big Boy in 2017 when he was at his peak of popularity. And Drake did that well known Rap Radar interview where he touched on everything back in 2019. And Cole flat out doesn't do much interviews to begin with.

AK didn't even become an actual hip hop interviewer until 2 years ago and he was "average at best" with it and resorted back to being a shock jock obsessed with street shyt.

What was this?

It was after the Mike brown shooting I think and right before blacker the berry leaked. He said black people don’t respect themselves and something else and got backlash.

“I wish somebody would look in our neighborhood knowing that it’s already a situation, mentally, where it’s f–ked up. What happened to [Michael Brown] should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don’t start with just a rally, don’t start from looting — it starts from within.”

He didn’t do anymore interviews for TPAB after. It was leaked Interscope shut them down shyt I don’t think he ever brought up anything similar since

That’s not true. Kendrick literally don’t do interviews cause one interview he sounded so stupid, his label shut it all down

Cole definitely does interviews within the culture, he had about 3-5 hot 97s and 3 or more breakfast club interview

Drake doesn’t really do interviews.
Yup. This is around before TPAB.
