No they shouldn't have been playing them in the first round. No excuse for a team with Melo and Amare (if they are franchise guys they are purported to be) getting 6th and 7th seeds.

This is true too. Dude is just making excuses now. Sounds pretty pathetic if you ask me.

"We weren't supposed to win." :to:

That's because Melo isn't one to carry a team.

:what: + :wtf:

Are you serious with that shyt? Look at those words you just put together. Are these really the lengths nikkas are going to do defend this guy?

This is sports, it's all about the end result. Yeah Usain and Phelps won races in 08 but other nikkas had a better process. Them other nikkas coulda won. :childplease:  What good is ability or process if it doesn't translate into production? Every defense of Melo is either a reference to what he CAN do or a nice game or series. Nothing about actual production or consistency. :smh:
it does translate into production :what: Carmelo is always among the leaders in scoring. The fact that Lebron scores more DOESN'T equate to being a better scorer just a more efficient one

:what: Where are you coming up with this stuff?

No they don't have the right pieces because few good players can mesh with Melo.

So Melo is holding them back.

They had the right pieces, as you pointed out, PRIOR to Melo joining the Knicks.

:ohhh:

I know I've stated this before, but when Mike Gorman, long time play by play man for the Celtics (an avid basketball fan who loves many a non Celtic player) HATES your game so much that he can hardly stop himself from talking shyt about you on every possession you touch the ball, you know you must be a selfish basketball player.

Mike Gorman cannot stand Carmelo, so neither can I.

I'm Mike Gormans' Super PAC, and I approve this message.

So who is Melo overrated by?

Honestly I think the pendulum has swung. I don't think he's overrated anymore in general anymore. However you still have those clinging to what he CAN do or a nice quarter or game or couple games he had and ignoring everything else.

INjuries had a lot to do with that. And a coach being fired midseason is always a bad sign for team consistently winning you're looking for.

Melo is a top 15 player who is capable of playing like a top 5 player some nights, his consistency and his bad year last yr keeps him out of the top 10 right now

but im tired of these posters acting like he is a scrub cause he isnt lebron dwade or kobe. He is still a top player

and I swear I better never see a melo is overrated post, when its been at least 15 threads bashing Melo since this site was made

Being THE BEST translates into being AMONG the leaders? :what:

What good does what a nikka CAN do do for anyone?

Melo and Amare both played enough games to get their team higher than a 7th seed. It's not like one of them missed the whole season and in the games they did miss the team went on a winning streak. Great players can flourish in any system and with other great players. D'Antoni for all his ills defensively has a proven offensive system and that system along with Amare and others were in the 5 spot before Melo arrived.

It's a combination of not playing enough games (IMO) and a coach losing his team in the process.

The fact that _'Antoni left and Melo carried the team damn near averaging 30ppg from out of the playoff picture to the 7th seed was...well...pretty much what I expected out of this Knicks team.

No they don't have the right pieces because few good players can mesh with Melo. Melo renders Amare useless because he fiends for touches with Melo on the court. He took 6 shots one game against Miami in the playoffs. 6.

They should not have beaten the Celts or Heat because Melo is their best player and that's not a recipe for playoff success. And this has been proven.

So the offense should have been run through Amare?

You expected a team with Melo and Amare both playing at least 47 out of 66 games to only be a 7th seed in the East?
