Disney will Lose $50 million off SOLO

Just watched this on Netflix, I don’t know WTF people are smoking but this movie was FAR from garbage.

Maybe there was Star Wars fatigue and the movie did run a bit long, but it was your standard Hollywood popcorn flick

If you’ve got Netflix, Fire this up and enjoy, seriously.

But some folks wanted to be extra about it.

It’s like they want this movie to be absolutely flawless or nothing. And I get having high standards but it shouldnt be “all or nothing”

That's actually more how I feel about last Jedi, but yeah it's pretty crazy how quickly Disney has fukked up Star Wars. I have zero interest in episode 9, the trailer would have to be utterly insane to get me back on board.

They've done 4 movies now under the Disney banner and there's been about six minutes total of lightsabers/force using. It's like they're trying purposely to avoid wgat originally drew people into Star Wars, and that's to say nothing of the other flaws.

I actually like Solo though I won't lie, but the last Jedi is probably my least favorite Star Wars movie of all time.

Disney doesn't see it as losing 50 mil.

They see it as losing 500 mil in potential profits. Disney isn't in the business of breaking even and especially not losing money and their share holders aren't either.

Also this is one of their flagship franchises. They didn't pay 4 bil for flops at year 5.

It was a fun overal meaningless SW movie that played it a bit too safe. Which is funny coming after Last Jedi which went completely the other way and has become even more polarizing than any of the prequels.

Solo got hit by the perfect storm:

- Too safe
- Coming 5 months after Last Jedi
- Competing with Infinity War/Deadpool 2
- Competing with Harrison Ford/Billy Dee
- Bad press over Lando being bi

It just had NOTHING going for it, and word of mouth was AT BEST "it's ok".

I enjoyed the fukk out of it, but I get why it failed and I hope Disney took the right lesson from having made the only SW flop.

That one really stuck out to me the whole time I watched it. They just didn't have that it factor Harrison and Williams had.

Yea han on paper was just a regular pirate but lucas hit gold with harrison ford. Thats why When the movie was announced i thought it was going to show ford after ROTJ and before TFA

I finally watched this and the worst thing I can say about it is that it should have been a simple heist film.

This movie only would have worked if Han being a good guy and his love interest were compelling. They were just fine.

Beckett and Han as the core would have been a better story.
