Turning Red hurt the most because that movie shytTTTTED all over anything Disney related in current times. I friggin loved that movie:

  • It was hilarious
  • Didn't reek of shoehorning bullshyt (typical Disney "diversity" babble)
  • Probably one of Pixar's best efforts in quite some time
  • Had hidden messages concerning emotions, family views, and etc

Hold up. Raya was released at an extra $30 (along with Mulan). Disney+ made NO money from that as well?

super unfair to some of those movies

Encanto was released Nov 2021
Soul Dec 2020 - straight to video
Raya and last dragon March 2021
Turning red march 2022 - straight to video
Elemental and Strange world - fair to label as bombs

So, 2 of them released during peak Covid where you were not taking kids to theaters, and 2 weren't even released in theaters...how were they supposed to make money? Encanto and Soul are highly regarded as film successes...the money argument for them shouldn't really apply at all.

He is partially wrong. Luca, Turning Red, and Soul originally had wide theatrical releases set but were sent direct-to-streaming instead because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The only countries that got that theater treatment were the ones without Disney+ service. That makes a big difference financially.

But that don’t support his narrative so :hubie:
yeah you said it for me before I saw your reply.

Honestly those movies ADDED VALUE to Disney+ at a time when everyone was scrambling to streaming platforms. HBO was doing the same thing with shyt like Matrix Resurrection.

I surprisingly go to Netflix more than I do this app (unless a marvel show is dropping)

I dont remember any of those movies as far as promo. Dont remember seeing them in any trailers, while watching youtube videos, nothing:mjlol:

And my daughter didnt mention any of them.
So maybe they arent marketing the "new" stuff correctly or as aggressively.
