And a horrible foul shot, and missing like 15-20 games on average a season.

Man, this bothered me the most about Shaq. If he shot free throws like say, Yao Ming and put in work on his body and overall game more, he would have been averaging 35/15 regularly and topping out at 40 ppg. Dude was THAT dominate and destructive in the post.

Making Freethrows is a skill, like making 3-pointers. Yet no one would say "if only Shaq worked on his three point shot." Shaq tried very hard to be a good freethrow shooter, he was just never skilled in that area..

nikka made it to 6th on the all time list with no 3 point shot are yall nikkas serious :russ:

Exactly and Shaq might have not been a great defensive player but he was a two way player and scored and did dirty work when it came to rebounding and guarding the paint. Shaq was also never hidden on defense. Plus are those big time hits that dude took from folks hacking him. Players were allowed to hit him like no one else in the league because he was so large. I am sure that took a toll on his body as well.

Yes Dirk is a great player but being able to play this long has a lot to do with basically never having to be the defensive anchor on defense or having to be the best rebounder on the team. Not having to do dirty work added years on his career. Think how many years Kobe could have played if he didn't have to guard the best back court player all those years (even when he was older and winning rings).

Big ups to Dirk for his elite scoring and his longevity in the game. With his game he will probably play another three or four years and eventually surpass Kobe too. But if Shaq wouldn't have missed so many games and could have hit 60 percent of his free throws he probably would be at least number 3 on this list and possibly number 2.

So it's pretty much agreed that the top5 pf's of all time are Duncan, KG, Dirk, Chuck & Malone? (not necessarily in that order) after that it's McHale, Hayes and maybe C.Webb, Pau & Bosh? Am I missing someone?

not gonna put Bob Pettit up there

this. people trying to change history in here and recreate a new player. just take shaq for what he was. all these 'what ifs' are insecure, i didn't make this thread to say dirk>>shaq..
