This dionne warwick stance ain't new. I hate all this pretending to be shocked behavior on here. There are so many threads of this exact topic about beyonce on thecoli and numerous other message boards. People have debated on videos and the radio about this.

People call anything classic just cuz without any clear definition.

Classics are usually benchmark albums in their respective genres. Albums from years passed that are recognized today as game changers for their time period.

There's albums that are universally recognized as classics no matter how much you hate or love an artist.

Thriller, Confessions, don't be cruel, purple rain, Songs in the key of life, miseducation of Lauryn hill, Voodoo, etc
Exactly, particularly the bolded.

You are being myopic.

Your point is valid but all of this is subjective and through the individuals lens. My mom doesn’t think that Confessions or Vodoo are classics. Because that’s not her era. Those are classics to certain people that respect those artist relative to time and perspective.

You guys are looney to hold up your beliefs of what’s classic yet dismiss an artist as big as Beyoncé when there are plenty of people that feel her music is classic status. Confessions is not universally considered a classic outside of its genre.

>>>> anything Dionne Warwick has ever sang. :manny: I’m not saying every song Beyonce makes is amazing but she does have some great songs

And I like all types of music from all generations. For some reason people just refuse to admit that Beyonce is one of the greatest.

Nope. Her husband has more memorable solos which is insane and he's a rapper .

Walk On By, Say a Little Prayer and You're Gonna Need Me and all amazing and some of my favorites of all time. Warwick is great but Beyonce is too.

Facts... Some have already touched on it, but a big reason why artists from back when had catalogues that span generations is because as black people in the 50s-80s, we all listened to the same music regardless of generation/age.... You at 9 years old , your pops and your 50 year old uncle would get crunk when atomic dog came on... Your mom, 11 year old sister, and Grandmother would tell everybody to hush so they could sing along with any Diana Ross joint....... if your mama cleaned house while playing the Delphonics.. you as a child grew to love and appreciate that group.... sheit.... we used to bump Lenny Williams in the mid/late 90s through our sound systems because we knew he was cold, and we were teenagers

Edit: @Killmonger, you didn’t have to call her an old ass bytch tho.... :dead:

Mary J Blige might be the last one that could several generations of black folk during her popularity. My moms was constantly stealing my mary j cds back in the day :birdman:

Confessions had much more impact than any Beyonce album, and that's facts. Whether my niece or my aunty realize that has nothing to do with it.
