:scust:

I'd rather be single, than a DINKer. If I'm going to have the same woman around, at least give me a kid or two.:yeshrug:

This.

I'm 36 staring down 37. If I don't have kids by 40, I'm not having kids. I'll just live a solitary life doing what I want, when I want.

But I really want to have a kid. Just 1. If shyt don't work out with my current lady, I just realize it's not in the cards for me.

I'm 31. I might have kids. I might not. I hope my sister has one soon so I don't feel pressured into giving my parents a grandchild. I don't dislike kids, but holy hell that is a lot of work. Like zero downtime. I don't feel like I need that in my life right now when I'm only really starting to get up to speed.

For whatever reason I just don’t have a strong desire to have kids.

I still may one day but I don’t see an adorable infant and instantly get baby fever and will only have a child with a woman that is solid both financially and in terms of character.

I had an ex that wanted a baby sooo bad but was only working as a bank teller making like $11 an hour. I was still trying to establish my career and was only making low to mid 50s. I knew that would be a recipe for disaster having a child at that point in our lives. And she resented me for making her take birth control or plan B when we had slip ups.

A few years after we break up, she’s a single mom.. still working a low wage job, no college degree. She was having a rough go at it (and this was before the pandemic)

  • phone off
  • Car insurance lapsed
  • Final notice on car note (which she inexplicably did an 84 month term for):snoop:
I floated her a few hundred for her car note but couldn’t help to feel that her desire to have a kid fukked her whole life up.

It’s hard to imagine that she doesn’t regret doing it at that time in her life, with that particular nikka. She’s probably glad to have her daughter but deep down.. damn look at the cost she’s paying for it.

idk man..

This is why I screen women.
The coli will look at you stupid for passing up on a woman just because she’s attractive, not knowing what dealing with her entails. I’m way to forward thinking, so I’ve had that baby talk pushed on me a few times from women who never put much thinking into it and peeped game.

Also never tell people how much you make. I downplay the fukk out of it.

Exactly yo.. half the time she would be on that baby talk, half the time she would kick this

“I don’t think I can get pregnant.. family history of early menopause blah blah blah..”

yea ok, I’m not nuttin in you girl.

there were a couple where I wish it coulda worked out, cuz they were fun. But it won’t be fun when she’s your baby mother and you bumping “Here My Dear” on repeat with your finances in ruin

Honestly if you've gotten out there and got your experiences in the world...might as well have a kid bc the world has nothing more to offer you :wow:

EDIT: Only if you've found a woman that you trust your life with. 95% of y'all won't understand what this means.

While i agree and like premise of the article, op has been pushing a lot of anti baby threads

:umad:The ad hominem is weak, I see you still in your feelings for me calling out your posting style. I think flawed social narratives have to be challenged with data and numbers, instead of moral grandstanding and personal anecdotes.

Don't give up either way. You're probably the kind of person who should start a family.

I'm pro family generally. And pro black family in particular. All of these high minded, well off people who have talked themselves out of families are really missing the boat. Don't leave the future the less capable.:snoop:

I'm gonna be 31 in a month which is hard to believe. Still single. I do want to have kids and I'll probably get married by 35ish. But I can't imagine having more than 2. I have a sister who is a couple years younger than me who is yet to be hitched too.

My parents are in their 50s so I'm not being pressured to find them a daughter in-law and have a kid... yet

getting weird flex, penny pincher vibes from the article

:stopitslime:

Chill beloved you know I ain't cheap, but I'm frugal... big difference. Folks benefit from understanding their options or lack thereof, and it's more beneficial than "stop buying lattes, stop buying Jordan's, stop traveling so much".:damn: My next series might hit a nerve with you, it's about how Black folks should leave expensive metros and go to the south if they really want to have kids and the traditional life.:youngsabo:

Not that big. Fine line between the two, I'd say.
