How is it slept on when hes nominated for an Oscar for it

I get that part but sometimes people wait till it gets that nomination or box office reception not that high as u would think it would be
Same as Grammys
They wait till nominations or winner to buy
So with it released next week and a few weeks after it probably will sell more cuz of nomination or cuz it won

Spider man saw diminishing grosses tho and didn't clear the budgets the studio wanted. So it wasn't making enough for them and it got lambasted critically and it showed a downturn. This movie exceeded financial expectations which is the difference
Adding Stark to the new Spidey so they know for sure it will bank what they expect. Smart move but obvious.

But the more I think about it. Mel would be a great pick. SS2 is destined to bank lower than the first flick but adding Mel makes it more intriguing and as long as the studio doesn't fudge it up again, the potential is promising for an actual good movie and not some edited mess of a product.

nikkas thinking a franchise with 3 movies brining in 2.2 billion dollars will reboot :mjlol:

Mel was a member of the Suicide Squad -- "the worst of the worst" -- for a few years there. Would definitely fit

I mean a franchise with 2 movies bringing in 1.4 billion with the potential of a 3rd bringing the total to 2.5 billion was rebooted

Let's not act like it's not possible.....

Matter fact..... if Sony aint make that deal.... we probably not only still getting that ASM3 movie..... but also that Sinister 6 movie that Jamie Foxx and other had signed on to

The movie was still shyt. Did you even like Suicide Squad?

It was fine. I liked the characters more than the story itself. I didn't think it was horrendous but I didn't think it was great either. It was middle of the road with good characters and good chemistry.

My opinion aside money will forever be the only opinion that matters in Hollywood

Inspired choice, although I'm not a fan of getting directors who aren't familiar with the source material. Then again, Mel's a brilliant fukking director with a strong vision so he might just he what WB needs to breathe some life back into the rotting corpse of the DCCU.

Yea I felt the same way about it.

I just feel like Mel's controversies in the past will prevent this from happening. I can see all these PC liberals protesting in front of the Studio if they chose him and I don't think they'd end up risking all that money they are set to make on a controversial director like Mel. Who knows. Maybe the world has moved on and forgiven Mel. We'll see though.

Speaking as a pc liberal I feel you :russ:

It's not the decision I would make but that also doesn't mean it's not the right decision. Odds are he'd make something great and interesting. Is that worth the potential PR nightmare? It's a gamble and one they're willing to make if he's their top choice. He's not my favorite director on their list but he's definitely the best

It's messed up because he's a helluva director but a POS. I'm confident there are a lot of Hollywood directors and executives that feel the same way as Gibson but haven't been caught. Just like a lot of studio executives and directors are pedophiles like Singer.:francis:
