:dahell: They performed the damn song together in 1997. How the fukk was this an oversight?

It's not an oversight, it's a play :smugdraper:

Sting performs the song, which implies to his own fans that it also has his blessing

Now you have double the audience for the song you put no extra effort into making. You're eating twice off a singular effort :eat:

And making them pay for the performance :cook:

And I wouldn't be surprised if Sting didn't have it written somewhere that Puff can't perform the song without offering him the chance to perform it again without offering him the chance to perform with him... at a nominal fee of course :cook:

Sting doesn't play

the sampling laws are racist...... cacs got rich making covers of black music but when hip hop came all of a sudden you can't repurpose a song or sample a 3-5 second loop without giving up all your royalties. I think Russell Simmons said he was gonna take the issue to the supreme court back in the day but probably didn't want the smoke

the label is supposed to clear the samples which makes it funny that it's always the artists who get sued for it

Which is why I was siding with Marvin Gaye’s estate no matter what. It was funny s as fukk seeing so many people siding with Robin Thick in the name of “art” :mjpls:

It's fukking stupid how you gonna be a so-called music producer but can't write or create music from scratch...:what: People give swizz beats alot of shyt for his corny beats but besides that whole casio debacle when he came out his shyt was more or less "Original"

Black artists were some of the first musicians to get robbed by record labels/rap artists , so I also don't understand how people can look at sampling laws as inherentl racist.

Sugar Hill records JACKED Nile Rogers and Chic's "good times" for rapper's delight"

it's racist because none of those black artists back in the day who got robbed every got their money.....the only started caring about sampling once hip hop came along. If cacs made hip hop they'd treat sampling like covering songs....a standard fee. Thats how sampling should be

Exactly. When Robin Thicke was on the hot seat all of a sudden it was different. The shyt is racist plain and simple nikkas being simpletons in here.

They tried to clear it infact it’s an interpolation meaning they replayed the sample on a guitar but switch some notes around. This man sting is just sheisty he waited the last minute to call back for it
:manny:

That's what you're supposed to do. You don't sue the second the song comes out. You wait until it becomes a top 10 hit, on commercial, tv shows, movie trailers, gets played everywhere before you say "they took my song and achieved enormous success, I want my share."
