Police misconduct is well-documented, so the case for bodycams as a tool for increased transparency and accountability is strong and backed by evidence. On the other hand, in-person voter fraud is exceedingly rare, so the case for voter ID laws doesn't hold up under the same scrutiny. Bodycams address a documented problem, whereas voter ID laws attempt to solve an issue that data shows hardly exists.

It might seem like voter ID laws would prevent someone from impersonating their neighbor, but in practice, in-person voter impersonation is still extremely rare. Again, studies and data consistently show it happens almost never. The penalties for voter fraud are also very severe, so the risks of getting caught will far outweigh any potential benefit. Most people understand this. The election systems also has multiple safeguards in place to verify voter identities without voter ID requirements, like signature matching, registration records, and poll worker checks. Impersonating someone else might seem possible in theory, but in reality, it's highly unlikely and already effectively deterred by existing processes.

The concept of state IDs and driver's licenses isn't inherently racist (no one makes this claim), but the barriers to obtaining them, especially when they are used to suppress marginalized communities, certainly are. I don't understand how some of you can claim to be Black and be so fukking ignorant and dismissive of this country's history.State and drivers license are racist
