Bro when Wiz popped off huge I was 11-12, and saw dudes putting blonde patches and having him as their Facebook header lmaoo.. I wasn’t that young and saw his impact :russ:
Lil bro. For the last time. You were born in 2000. You were not there. No matter how you try to spin it. You do not understand the impact. This is a conversation that you will have to excuse yourself from

No hes fukking not :childplease:
Hes never had any mainstream hits anywhere near as big as Black and Yellow nor See you again
People will say anything to put a white boy over a nikka. Mac was coo, but he was NEVER bigger than Wiz.

My input may not be from the hip-hop all in the mix, musical perspective, but it's from a "being around"..."kinda knowing" perspective. My late teen/early 20's were out and about years. I've been "around" Wiz. No whore groupie shyt. Just people chilling. The Show & Prove, Deal or No Deal, & Kush & Orange Juice days. Later on I even remember the initial Amber Rose after Kanye days. Anyway, as time went on..years later...growing up...not to give too much away I was around his mom and her bestie. Wiz is a great guy. Not just on some avoiding problems to stay unproblematic. That's just how he is BUT he can be and there's some problematic people on his behalf.
Getting to the point at hand, Wiz blew up and Mac had been coming up too. But Mac's come up was...different. He didn't blow up like Wiz. In my ever so humble opinion it was due to him not having the same skill, determination, realism. Also, where he was from in seperated/segregated ass Pittsburgh played a part on both of their levels of success.. For example Mac got no play on WAMO. But 96.1 loved him. There were performances, but Mac didn't perform everywhere. Pittsburgh's a college kid town. Basically, they didn't have the same fan base. (Almost) Everyone was happy when he made it too. fukk it. It's Da 'Burgh. But when he died it was basically, "What did anyone expect?" That's how western PA is. These...others...are on those opioids.
To the point; I guarantee Wiz meant no disrespect towards Mac. There was no "hating" at all. shyt, if I can get into the CP archives for receipts I remember the love that was shown between the two of them along with love being by Wiz shown when Mac passed.

Wiz and Mac were both popular at a time. I think the drugs hindered his career but he's probably one of the only 2 white artists, I genuinely respect. I think Wiz best work was with Curren$y and Dom while Mac's was with Kendrick and Ab-Soul.

Wiz had everybody pretending they were big weed heads, getting blonde patches and tattoos everywhere. Influence was massive. Everybody had their own Taylor Gang or Die slogan.

See You Again was big because of Paul Walker's passing. Wiz wasn't even supposed to be on it, they were shopping it around to diff artists. It was going to blow regardless. Wiz impacted the culture yes, but Mac outlasted him and it's no comparison. Mac has worked with everyone from Migos to John Myer. Wiz's hype died after Taylor Allerdice, and I like Wiz but no.

RIP Mac, but he never was a bigger rapper than Wiz:stopitslime:
Breh you are smoking dope if you think Mac was as ever as big as Wiz. Name ONE hit Mac had that was anywhere near as big as Wizs. Yeah, Wiz aint hot as he used to be, but in his prime dude was everywhere, you rarely ever heard Mac get radio play. Mac had a following, but to say hes a bigger artist than Wiz is straight BS breh.
All of these right here.

And I'm from Pittsburgh, born and raised. I met both Wiz and Mac and seen them live dozens of times. I saw both of them play at Shadow Lounge (RIP, thanks to Justin and Tim for putting me on as a DJ there back in the day) before any of them even had any national recognition and they were just local acts. Mac has never had the success on the level of Wiz, ever. Like Wiz is basically a pop star now like Snoop Dogg is.

With that said, they both good peoples. Rest in Peace to Mac, last time I saw him was in 2012 driving a black on black mercedes that he bought with rap royalties at the gas station on Penn Ave.

Wiz also was on like 2-3 years before Mac too. I guess they kind've came up together but they're careers were not running on the same trajectory. Wiz was Rostrum's first artist to blow, then it was Mac
Wiz had hit singles in the 00s and the 10s.

And like most Pittsburgh rappers and creatives...if not all, there weren't that many spots to perform, especially hip-hop..in the 2000s literally every rapper that came up in the burgh played at the Shadow Lounge. EVERY single rapper from Pittsburgh and the surrounding tri-state area did shows there cause Pittsburgh is not that big of a city population wise. That was the place to go for hip-hop in Pittsburgh, especially after Club Laga, Metropol, and a gang of other venues closed. If you were a rapper in the 2000s trying to come up in Pittsburgh, you played at the shadow, you spit at an open mic night there, you paid to book a show at the venue so you could get a gid. shyt, I remember seeing Curren$y there in 2010 and it had 8 opening acts and they all paid $100 each to open. Eventually it just became that place that tied the old Pittsburgh from the mid to late 90s to the 10s. The Shadow Lounge was the only venue for hip-hop in Pittsburgh should I add...since the city TBH was not friendly to hip-hop acts coming through until then, but it was mostly composed of rock/punk/metal venues. I saw Wiz perform at the Shadow in 2005 and Mac miller in 2009.

I got mad love for both Wiz and Mac but being from Pittsburgh, there is way too much truth here.

Mac Miller didn't get play on WAMO...hell, before he even blew up WAMO was going off the air. Mac was more of a college stoner white kid rapper. He never had hit singles that rivaled Wiz's or albums. I remember the only places I would see either of them were at the Shadow Lounge. Then Wiz started opening up for Nas in 2006. Then he was playing his own headlining gigs in 2009. Mac really started blowing up when "knock knock" video went viral on youtube in 2011..and to be honest, I never really liked that video but there were some people I was friends with at the time in that video so I can't really hate. But even that video just felt kind of...whitewashed hip-hop to be honest. It's a play on some 50s leave it to beaver Americana, and I don't even remember seeing one black person in that video.

Mac is in this video near the end and this was filmed outside of the Shadow Lounge...10 years ago already...time flies. shouts to Jasiri X.

Mike asks him about other rappers from Pittsburgh and he doesn't mention Mac at all. He basically says nobody else came up from Pittsburgh, a couple underground guys behind the scene but nobody you could put a name on. That's a highkey spit in the face to me. Am I missing something ?

I remember when Mac passed and all he did was send out a tweet that seemed very by the way

They were both signed to Rostrum and came up the same time in the same lane

I do remember one interview where they asked Wiz about Mac, this is before he died. He said something like "there's only so much you can do to help someone"

I know they probably weren't as close behind the scenes but purposely leaving him out of notable rappers from your home town ? shyt Mac is a bigger rapper than Wiz himself

I like Mac Miller and I can't stand Wiz but there is no way Mac was a bigger rapper than Wiz
