Mac Miller was bigger than Wiz? I done heard it all now:mjlol:.

At no point did Mac ever surpassed Wiz...maybe musically if you're counting what Mac eventually evolved into while Wiz stayed the course but Wiz symbolically is bigger than Hip-hop. Wiz is everyone's favorite pothead cousin, had some of the biggest rap hits this decade and gave Mac Miller credibility.

Even talking music, Mac never made anything that had more impact than Kush and OJ which made Wiz a house hold name.

Im not even trying to descredit Mac because he was one of the few white rappers i was a fan of but nahhhhhhh

Timestamped

Mike asks him about other rappers from Pittsburgh and he doesn't mention Mac at all. He basically says nobody else came up from Pittsburgh, a couple underground guys behind the scene but nobody you could put a name on. That's a highkey spit in the face to me. Am I missing something ?

I remember when Mac passed and all he did was send out a tweet that seemed very by the way

They were both signed to Rostrum and came up the same time in the same lane

I do remember one interview where they asked Wiz about Mac, this is before he died. He said something like "there's only so much you can do to help someone"

I know they probably weren't as close behind the scenes but purposely leaving him out of notable rappers from your home town ? shyt Mac is a bigger rapper than Wiz himself

Question is who he looked up to.

Mac was younger than him.

Mac and Wiz just had different lanes. They did what, two songs together? Wiz blew up first and Mac didn't wanna come off like he was a Wiz understudy or part of his crew (basically he didn't wanna be Chevy Woods). He was doing everything on his end on his own. Musically they were cool though. Like some others have said though, Wiz probably threw his hands up when it came to the issues Mac had. Mac had closer people in his life than Wiz was at that point anyway, so what did Wiz owe him? Like ScHoolboy Q said, Mac was only really close with a handful of people (Q, Thundercat, Earl, .Paak, and couple of others, Curren$y, Ab-Soul too)

I love both Mac and Wiz, they are from Pittsburgh so I have an obvious connection there, but Mac had nothing anywhere close to Black and Yellow during that Steelers super bowl run.

They STILL play that song during all the broadcasts and any Steelers high light reel.

Exactly. I think at first, Wiz wanted to be an older brother type but it didn’t work out that way. I don’t think there was beef but they weren’t tight, just former coworkers. I fukk with Wiz and Mac but the only link they had outside of 412/Rostrum, was Spitta. Mac lowkey was trying to link up with Odd Future and Top Dawg when he was really starting to evolve. Mac style after his 1st album is pretty much a hybrid of those two groups

Mac was a junkie clown with the cac hype train behind him. He was riding Wiz wave hard cant believe y’all trying to push a bogus narrative that he was bigger :mjlol:.

It seems that Wiz tried to help him but he didn’t want help. Karen Civil and Ariana Grande couldn’t help Mac Miller :yeshrug:

Wiz seem to have kept all his day ones around him while he rocketed to the top, Mac laid up in a pine box :hubie:

Nothing wrong with giving your opinion on certain shyt you didn't live through but when discussing the feel of a certain time period, impact of an artist around a certain time, and what the reaction of the culture was those are things that you can't just read about and understand.
