The reason I even heard of Mac, and a lot people actually for that matter was because of Wiz when he jumped on Keep Floatin.
That song put Mac on the map for a lot of people, KIDS didn't really blow up when it came out, it took a few months and Wiz helped out with that.

Mac came in a weed rapper and then turned into a junkie rapper, and that's probably what happened to him in real life.
Somewhere along the way when he was dating Ariana Grande I think he started turning it around (coincidentally the music fell off around the same time) but she dogged him and he reverted back.
