I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Once them movies start bombing he came back home

Yeah, I think a lot of people think his first round of movies were successful when in reality they were modest hits to flops. He even admitted as such last summer, and considered doing something else (UFC) for awhile, since he had basically went into business for himself at the HOF in 2008 and displeased a lot of wrestlers in the WWE:

A number of people in WWE weren't pleased with how Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson came off this past Saturday night. He did not leave a positive impression on a number of wrestlers at the Hall of Fame banquet.

A number of sources report that Johnson did not hang out with old friends before and after his speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He showed up for the speech, delivered one that offended many in WWE and was believed to be too long, and then left.

Some of his former colleagues are saying that Johnson came across as "aloof" and "totally Hollywood," as if he were "above WWE now," not to mention everyone in WWE as well. One of those people include one-time friend Steve Austin, who was openly displeased and taken aback by Johnson's demeanor.

Here is one wrestler's comments regarding Johnson's Hall of Fame speech: "This wasn't a roast. This was supposed to be a tribute to his dad and grandfather. Instead, he did an hour plus of comedy, running way long, then did a short tribute to his dad and grandfather, then left. It was rude of him."

WWE had plans to control the length of the Hall of Fame speeches, but the induction ceremony ran way over the planned length in large part due to Johnson's drawn out speech. Flair's Hall of Fame speech ran long as well, but everyone was forgiving of that considering that it was his night.

After the event, pretty much everyone backstage shared in their resentment and disappointment on Johnson's conduct at the Hall of Fame. The belief backstage was that Johnson had no reason to treat old friends like discards from a past life.

Johnson's speech went on first because he had to catch a plane immediately to Las Vegas, where they are filming his latest movie, Space Mountain. After he left, two individuals took shots at him during their Hall of Fame speeches. When praising John Cena, Ric Flair made a point to say that Cena, "Will never leave our business for Hollywood." Triple H mentioned, "Rock fans," and then said, "Oops, am I supposed to say Dwayne fans now?"

Of course, you know if HHH had been successful in movies, he'd be out right now as well. That retelling that he did on his Kingdom Come DVD was almost laughable. The narrative became “I decided to stay” and Rock “decided to leave,” which may not be as true as “Rock was chosen over me.”

If he was corny, Angle and Austin were utter trash...Hogan no business being in the same building as him because he bombed as champion and Booker was playing comedian instead of being a real star at the time. Rock, RVD, Eddie, Benoit, Mysterio and Big Evil Taker were better than the whole industry.

A lot of us were done with him then.
Because his character had gotten stale as a face.

Then he came back in 03 and crushed the buildings with an all time great heel run. :blessed:
He was corny as hell from 01-02 and got booed out of the building at Mania 18 and Summerslam 2002

It needed to happen because then we got blessed with Hollywood Rock in 2003 :blessed:
Yep, nobody really talks about how wack he got, it was almost as bad as his run post Once in a Lifetime. What we need now is a new Hollywood Rock run now that he's a made man in Hollywood.

Rock elevated the realm of possibility for a wrestler and how to use your star. That locker room should've been saluting and studying his moves

He's a rare case of a cat that the business didn't get to chew up and spit out worse than he when was when he entered it.

He's a generation away from kids being like :gladbron: Dwayne Johnson was a pro wrestler?!?

Most likely Triple H was, The Rock was coming back in 05 but he had something to do with the WWE not resigning :yeshrug:

Didn't Triple H want to become a big movie star after Blade Trinity but nothing happened? Then did The Chaperone (which wasn't too bad tbh) :skip:

When praising John Cena, Ric Flair made a point to say that Cena, "Will never leave our business for Hollywood."

Just wait a few years :skip::skip::skip::skip:

Yes, a lot of people resented The Rock for going to Hollywood and doing movies, or should I say they resented that he was successful. Lots of Wrestlers during the peak era tries transitioning to being movie stars, Rock was just the only one that actually made it.

He started appearing on WWE TV less and fans got pissed. Wrestling fans were just scorned like their girlfriend had left them, because at the end of the day everybody knows the Rock could have wrestled for another decade. Didn't help that him being gone (along with Austin) led to HHH dominating the main event scene.

His Hollywood heel run was great but before he that he was a corny drizzle of horse shyt.

And its perfectly understandable why someone like Triple H, who eats, breathes and sleeps the wrestling business would have had a problem with him leaving the company when he was basically a NOBODY before WWE made him into a star

HHH is full of shyt. He was trying to do the same thing, it's just that it never took off for him. He was doing guest spots on the fukking Drew Carey Show, had that small role in Blade Trinity, and was pushing HARD to get a role in a Conan movie.
