YOU USE NUMBERS BECAUSE NUMBERS ARE CIRCUMSTANTIAL AND CAN BE USED IN MULTIPLE WAYS

LIKE IF I TOLD U THAT IN GAME 6 THE SECOND LEADING SCORER WAS LAMAR WIT 14 POINTS, IT CREATES MORE OF AN EXPLANATION TO TRUE BASKETBALL ENTHUSIASTS

“OH THATS WHY THE DEFENSE WAS ABLE TO KEY IN ON KOBE!! NOBODY ELSE ON THE TEAM WAS GIVING U 20+ POINTS!!”

lol, Kobe was mostly single-covered by Ray Allen that game and occasionally Rondo. He took 22 shots compared to just 1 assist. If the defense was as "keyed in" on him as you claim, he would have been taking fewer shots and passing to the open player. Part of the reason that Boston's defense could collapse on Kobe with no fear was because he was averaging 22 shots/game to only 5 assists/game that series.

And in Game 5, it was Kobe 25, Odom 20, and Pau 19. So claiming "the defense could key in on Kobe because no one else was giving them 20" doesn't even make sense. Three different players had given them 20 in the previous game alone.

THATS WHY BASKETBALL PURISTS RARELY RELY ON NUMBERS TO TELL A STORY.

"Basketball purist" is a meaningless phrase that doesn't mean anything except "the people who agree with me".

THIS ALSO HELPS EXPLAIN THE FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KOBE N BRON.. PUT BRON IN KOBES PLACE IN 2008 AND BRON WOULD BE CALLIN THE FRONT OFFICE TO BLOW UP THE TEAM N POSSIBLY TRADE PAU, FIRE PHIL JACKSON ETC… NO WAY HE TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO BEAT SOME TOUGHNESS INTO PAU ALA KOBE

You mean the same Bron who was playing with a far WORSE team in 2008 and didn't call anyone to blow up anything? :dead:

2008 Bron pushed that sames Celtics squad to 7 games despite limping 33yo Zydrunas Iglauskas averaging 11.9ppg as his #2. Boston's defense was COMPLETELY keyed in on him, and he was defended by Paul Pierce who is a far better defender than Ray Allen. Yet Bron put up 45 points and 6 assists in barely losing Game 7 (a surprise shooting outburst by James Posey was the only reason Boston won by 5). If a 23yo Bron could do that with the defense "keyed in" on him, why couldn't peak Kobe do better than 22 and 1?

Remember, this whole exchange was based on the claim that "Kobe went out like a g" in the 2008 Finals. 22 and 1 on 31% shooting with 4 turnovers while setting the record for the worst elimination loss in Finals history. Riiiiiight.

Boston had enough perimeter defense and Dallas couldn't punish them in the paint. Celts were the best team all year and the most balanced overall. Jrue Holiday isn't a true #1 or #2 option but dude is that glue you need to win rings. Dallas might have taken this to 7 just adding Jrue.

Dallas is solid but they need Lively to keep developing, unload guys like THJ and add a very good 3 & D. They need someone who can get buckets without needing the ball but can also play defense....a Klay or Scottie type.

This.

The mavs need a high flying ball dominant wing forward.

Who got dog in him. To want to showcase he is a leader with the ball in his hands.

What is funny is.

I believe Dallas forgot porzingis even played in Dallas. Like dallas acted like.
they never seen porzingis.
a day in their lives.

Which I found odd.

As porzingis been wanting to make Luka look goofie.
That the lack of defensive intensity in the frontcourt and unwillingness.
to blitz porzingis defensively.

Is exactly how Dallas lost.
The lack of experience showcased by Dallas in the finals of all things. Was completely surprising. As kidd acted like getting to the finals was a given. When this team played up.
for the past playoff appearances.
to make it to the finals this time.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT WE SAW

YOUR MANIPULATIONS NOT WORKIN

ONLY 2 PLAYERS OTHER THAN KOBE SCORED 20+ IN THAT ENTIRE SERIES AND IT WAS ONCE EACH…. PAU SCORED EXACTLY 20 IN GAME 5 AND SASHA SCORED EXACTLY 20 IN GAME 3

THATS IT

NOW LETS TAKE GAME 1 OF BOSTON VS CLEVELAND THAT SAME YEAR

LEBRON HAD 12 POINTS AND ILGAUSKAS HAD 22.. GAME 2 LEBRON HAD 21 AND ILGAUSKAS HAD 19.. GAME 3 LEBRON HAD 21 AND DELONTE HAD 21.. DELONTE DROPPED 21 AGAIN IN GAME 5

NOW U SEE HOW WERE BOTH UTILIZING NUMBERS TO TELL OPPOSITE STORIES?

THIS IS WHY REAL ONES USE MORE THAN A CALCULATOR WHEN ASSESSING WHAT WENT DOWN

In 2008, Kobe went out losing 131-92. It was the second-worst loss in Finals history. He had 22 points on 7-22 shooting in that game with 4 turnovers, and only scored 11 points on 3-15 shooting after the 1st quarter. For the series, he averaged 25ppg on 40/32 splits after having averaged 28ppg on 46/36 in the regular season. And his defensive responsibility averaged 20ppg on 50/53 splits and set the Finals record for threes in a series.
Fisher was on Ray for most of that explosion but of course the resident Kobe hater pulls up with disingenuous takes as if Kobe once refused him an autograph. Kobe literally fought his heart out in game 5 and had the game sealing defensive play on Pierce (I thought Ray was his defensive responsibility). Kobe’s numbers that series were better than the dude who won finals MVP. Kyrie was nowhere in that vicinity this series. Not going out like a hoe is very different than saying one had a great series. The moment never looked to big for Kobe - it was too big for Gasol, Sasha and co.
