Did LL Cool J really best Kool Moe Dee or did he just reap the benefits of being the younger artist? | @DadBodRapPod Podcast

THE MOST OUTTER REACHES OF THE COSMOS
I was also around then. That really was the golden era. This is all facts. Jack the Ripper was in HEAVY rotation everywhere. I am a huge Moe Dee fan. But LL was just too much as far as the total package goes

When it comes to these Golden Era topics u truly have had to been there to truly know and appreciate the drama and truth behind this shyt because just discussing it,is not doing this battle justice! nikkaz was excited and anticipating what would happen next but it was kept on wax.Everybody that was into HipHop was B- Boying and it showed in the style of dress, music and the culture and Cool J had already established himself as a rap super star with Bigger and Deffer:blessed:

fam all you have to do is listen to the music that started coming out...

...Moe Dee still had that Kurtis Blow type voice/flow...
...Rakim, KRS, LL, BDK were the cats that were taking things in a new direction.

Moe Dee had hits yeah...but he reached his peak by that point

That battle was like Atari 2600 vs Nintendo

LL had too much young swag and new rap style for ol Moe Dee.

Yeah I don't see how dudes are saying LL got beat by a nikka who forever rapped like it was 1979.

I swear. Between about 85 to 92 I had probably 90% of all Hip Hop releases. The beauty was everybody was different. From Special Ed to Public Enemy. It was all Piff

As a east coast cat when I first heard NWA I was :merchant: Everything was so authentic and dope.

EPMD was my personal favorites but man there was so much dope shyt :banderas:

And even tho he was basically the rapper that reminded you of your uncle, and this is true, it was also actually a resurgence in his career. They were the biggest hits of his career. He was more popular between '87 and '89, arguably than he had ever been. I know the rap guard had changed by then, but this is also why his late 80s run was so notable- he was the only guy from the pre-Run DMC era that was actively making music that was getting play/respect. Not Kurtis, not Mel, not Caz, not Spoonie, not Busy Bee... but Moe was still in the mix even with all the newer artists jumping out there. He wasn't on a "decline" until he started putting out shyt that didn't hit around '90/'91.
